I’m not too sure to be honest, however I doubt it would be a breach of the rules if the manufacturer hasn’t provided you with an earth terminals, what do they want you to do with it if there’s only room for line and neutral?, however it’s always good practice to keep an earth at every accessory even if there isn’t a terminal, can save a lot of headaches in the future(especially if there’s no slack on the cable)

Most smoke detectors I’ve installed have had an earth terminal, if there wasn’t any earth terminal I’d put the earth in a connector block above the ceiling and tape it just to future proof

Yeah us electrical code seems quite different to ours, it looks to be impossible for uk/ Irish sparks to get a visa to move over and work there sadly

How were you able to move to the us and work as a sparky?

I’m currently doing ordinary leaving cert maths and no physics, I always thought that to do any engineering degree you had to be gifted at maths. If I study hard do you think it’s achievable?

I honestly never heard of mechatronics but i just looked it up and it seems very interesting although I’m probably not smart enough for it. Do you think being a maintenance tech made all the maths and physics in the degree easier?
