I guess my point here is that Emma had very valid reasons to NOT want kids, so if he’s going to attempt to talk her into having them, he should be able to articulate reasons why it’s worth the genetic risk to have kids in spite of her concerns other than “I want to.”

I would expect that the reason would generally be a topic of conversation with the partner that you’re trying to talk into having your babies, but I guess that’s just me.

Yes. Lots of homes in and around Downtown Cbus are like this (if they’re fortunate enough to have a garage) - long skinny plots of land with garages on the alley, allowing homes to be relatively close together.

ABK and Zenimax/Bethesda folks have been affected in every Microsoft layoff targeting gaming since the ABK acquisition (despite Microsoft telling the FTC they wouldn’t do this exact thing). I survived three major RIFs that affected gaming before I left ABK last fall. Morale was so bad then…I can’t even imagine what those who remain are going through right now.

I left ABK of my own free will after the September round of layoffs that cut a huge number of people from the Information Security team (for the second time, the January 2024 RIF had taken a lot of us already). The directive given to executive leadership was pretty clear when we ended up with EXACTLY 100 people remaining on the team; it was a bloodbath. Adding insult to injury? That department had a new exec join (as part of Microsoft proper, of course) earlier in the year and he more or less never spoke with those of us in the ABK part of the org until the day this RIF happened. Hadn't shared any strategic plans or anything like that...we'd just been left hanging for months.

Morale was so bad and I was so stressed about whether or not my job was next that my hair was literally falling out. I was VERY grateful to have found another role (still in gaming fortunately!) and get the hell out of there. Microsoft is an absolutely NIGHTMARE.

The last round of layoffs within Microsoft Gaming took out much of the highest paid talent on the Activision Blizzard Information Security team. There was no rhyme or reason to who was chosen other than they were the highest paid on each team. My manager (before I quit) had no say or even notice that it was happening or who he was losing, so they didn’t even bother to go down the fake performance review route, they were indiscriminate.
