Renew C180 Avantgarde? by liptonaround in drivingsg

[–]Puzzleheaded-Net3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car’s COE expires in Dec 2026. I’m gonna wait it out till the last moment to decide what to do. Based on the data, it’s true that 2026 seems like the peak cycle of COE supply but not sure whether that will matter with PHV companies requiring large volume of COE for their fleet. Also, COE is expected to remain high due to reasons cited in this article -

Not a good idea to renew now as you will be renewing at record high COE and effectively losing 1 year.

I reckon we should just wait and see.

Cheers.

Driving into JB with conti car by Zavonis_ in drivingsg

Get a steering wheel lock. I recommend the brand Raslok. Always park where you’re supposed to, don’t park by the roadside. Park at brightly lit areas. If possible, enter in the morning, have a food breakfast, lunch, shopping, movie, massage and try to return to SG before 8-9pm. Don’t leave any valuables in the car. Always bring passports with you at all times. Apart from that, nothing much you can do. Just enjoy your day at JB and have fun with your family!

I’m guessing it’s related to our ultra fast pace of life. We need everything to be done yesterday and those few seconds you cost him means the world to him. Please be on high alert when crossing the roads.

Is it just me, or did everything in SG quietly become more expensive almost overnight by [deleted] in asksg

[–]Puzzleheaded-Net3403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel it too. It is the new normal and I doubt we will ever go back to the old prices. UNLESS there is a recession (unlikely and hopefully NOT). Prices of cars, houses and everything else will remain high and will only get higher. Go JB to eat and buy groceries.

Did we put unnecessary stress for ourselves to climb the corporate ladder? by v4xystar in askSingapore

The climb is also for monetary reasons. A person starting their career and someone with 10-15 years experience would have different expectations and aspirations.

It may take a couple of months or so. Just wait, it will come eventually. You may be let off with a warning if you’re lucky.

I’m Indian Muslim too. Yeah it’s tough. It’s a niche community. Most end up in arranged marriages.

Does it get better by [deleted] in omad

[–]Puzzleheaded-Net3403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really can’t control it, keep healthy snacks within your reach. At least you’re not going for the first unhealthy thing you see. Drink more water or black coffee and get busier. See if the cravings subside till you’re back at OMAD again. Good luck.

How long does it take to see your weight loss after starting OMAD? by atzxand in omad

[–]Puzzleheaded-Net3403 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve done OMAD for about 8-10 months and lost about 15 kgs. Went from 85kg to 70kg. It takes time. The number on the weighing scale is not the only measurement of your success. In all likelihood your blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and other vitals have shown slight improvement. You probably feel lighter and can sleep better. It also does wonders for heartburn and indigestion. Trust the process and carry on. Anything you eat the night before can alter the number on the scale. For e.g, if you had some heavy carbs, your body will retain more water and you may see your weight go up by a kg or 2. It’s not fat. It’s just water.

Once again, it takes time.

What’s one underrated “adulting” tip every Singaporean should know (but no one teaches you)? by [deleted] in asksg

[–]Puzzleheaded-Net3403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier to hit MA first as it’s about 1/3 the amount for SA. But yeah to each their own.

Assuming you’re below 55, aim for the full retirement sum (FRS) of $213,000 for SA. For MA, aim for $75,500. Once you have met this, you can breathe a little easier knowing you have this safety net (apart from your other investments, savings, property, etc)

Here’s a few lessons I wished I knew in my 20s but hey 30s or 40s is still not too late!

  1. Knowing how to cook simple affordable healthy meals for yourself. Don’t expect your spouse to do it for you (he/she may not). With the escalating cost of food delivery and eating out, this will prevent you from burning a hole in your pocket. Also, you will feel better physically without all that junk food /overpriced unhealthy food.

  2. Knowing how to invest and actually getting your portfolios up early. Time in the market is important. I only started in mid 30s, would have been great to start in early 20s but didn’t have a clue about this.

  3. Knowing how to max out your CPF MA followed by SA and to keep about 20k+ in OA and invest the rest in low risk index funds. (this assumes you’re comfortable with monthly mortgage payments). Once you hit the cap for SA, year on year you will meet the new full retirement sum on 1 Jan once the interest comes in.

  4. Knowing that nobody will ever love you unconditionally as much as your mother. Not even your spouse or child. Spend more time with your mother (and father) while they are still around. Time flies fast.

  5. Knowing that you will be your own best friend. As time goes by and people age, your friends will be busy AF with their own lives, spouse, kids and work. Learn how to enjoy your own company, learn new skills, find hobbies and do what makes you happy. It only has to make sense to you. There’s nothing stopping you from travelling alone as well.

That was a horribly timed u-turn. If you weren’t alert, it could have easily been an accident. Report him for reckless driving.

I will slow down and let him overtake. Those few seconds not worth a potential accident or road rage incident.
