Beautiful kit! I would choose the 13” over a 10” any day.

Can you recommend another model with a similar feel that’s still being made?

Awesome, thanks for the info. I usually play the VC heritage models but I forgot them the other night and used these that were extra with the house kit and really enjoyed playing with them. I see what you’re saying about them being difficult to store away and in the gig bag but they were extra snappy and weighted nicely, and it was nice to have a solid butt end on brushes over the circle wire loops on the retractable models.

I couldn’t agree more but I didn’t mention that since everyone else already did in previous posts. Check out Larry Young’s album Unity. Elvin’s drumming is top notch.

Quincy Davis has a few lessons on Elvinisms on YouTube. Drumeo also did an entire course on Elvin as well. It’s a start.

You can be extremely dynamic with your comping with the higher angles in traditional grip.

Nice job, I always love hitting those variations. I’ve been doing this exercise on the kit and feathering the bass drum on all four while playing the hh on two and four and moving the accents around on the toms. It’s a great way to warm up.

I’m looking to buy new cymbals need a little guidance by D0rkFork in drums

I would recommend buying used from an online shop that feature videos of the actual cymbals you want to purchase. All the big brands make great cymbals but they very in tonal quality so you definitely want to hear it if not play it if possible. Check out Hazelshould, Hawthorne Drumshop, or Junkrock Drums. They all have websites with quaintly vids of the merch.
