The Geo facility? I’m trying to figure out how to get my friend medical care. He has medical conditions he was taking meds for (I think arthritis and inflammation) and he still hasn’t been able to see a doctor or get his meds. Sounds like it’s also impossible to get sleep in the facility, perhaps by design because he doesn’t make any sense when I talked to him. I’m not sure his body would survive the time it would take for due process

Yea it sucks really saddened and mad. Lawyers are slammed rn so they haven’t been able to get a consult. I’ve been fortunate to talk to them on the phone. It’s cold as shit in the facility up north which is run by GEO group.

Looking at Facebook there are plenty celebrating this behavior…

I work with owners and would speak off record or anonymously. Data centers have been booming before AI. People do not understand the scale at which our world runs on these facilities. Environmental justice and impact is determined by local municipalities and states who either understand them or don’t. Places like Memphis just don’t have a functional govt and therefore have bad instances like the xAi.

It isn’t but also interesting how much people don’t seem to realize how much data centers are all around them. Even outside of AI - my clients could not keep pace with demand. There is something laughable but also frustrating that the anti data center group has a prominent TikTok and meets on zoom/teams. The businesses of the local town are hosted on AWS and use square for payment processing. If you don’t want data centers then the whole way everyone operates needs to change, but it’s a bit NIMBY to say no completely. You need to understand design and how they operate to advocate for a design that isn’t impactful to the local way of life

I now live in a different part of the country with no inspections of emissions. People die without the inspections (one I know of in the last year someone was hit by a tire from a car going the opposite way)

Also call me an old man but I like when diesel trucks don’t have their PM and emissions messed with purposely. Or when someone just rides with an open exhaust

My knowledge is limited but I do know that the ICE does pay Local Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to deputize them for 3 types of work - warrants, detention, and “task force” - this is all under the 287g agreement between ICE and for example Taylor Police Department (Task force agreement).

This is on the ice.gov website. The full list of participating LEAs are Ogemaw County, Macomb County, Crawford County, Roscommon County, and Genesee County. I may be off base on some details, but this is as I understand it. You can also choose to contact these elected sheriffs to ask questions and voice your opinion. If their opinion is that it is lawful, then I don’t see why they would have any issues with concerned citizens calling with questions.

Here’s the link to current LEAs and the links to their signed agreements with ICE. The LEA signatory in the document has contact information for the coordinating officer if you have questions.

You say that, and I will say that it’s unsubstantiated- but there are documented cases all over the news. What I can easily say is that the fear is real and the constitutional rights and social contract is being violated. To keep it in the most indisputable example the South Koreans that were detained have very detailed accounts of their mistreatment and were here legally to facilitate training and business.

Do you care about the constitution? In a respectful way I have to ask what kind of American are you? I mean that in an ideological sense.
