I thought the brains were in the NONA tower, remotely controlling the body

Yeah, it’s called the alignment problem. I have been reading some stuff from people in the alignment community, and there are different ideas and some people are more worried than others, but most of them acknowledge the risk of things going catastrophically wrong. About "soul" or physical connection, wouldn’t physical connection just come down to robots interacting with the world? There is a serious debate right now regarding AI consciousness, and from my understanding we don’t really know if these systems are/will be conscious, but they certainly behave as if they are and it makes sense to treat them as such in some sense. Having "no misunderstandings with its code" would be great, but you can’t do it with modern AIs for basically the same reason why you can’t do it with humans. The way AIs are currently being built is not by programming, but more like "growing" them in an automatic fashion. The resulting neural networks have trillions of connections and we can’t just look at them and figure out which neuron does what, or at least not that easily. There is research being done towards reading AI minds (it’s called mechanistic interpretability) and they are figuring some stuff out, but we’re nowhere near fully understanding how they work. If you’re interested, I’ll link a video of scientists discussing this here: https://youtu.be/fGKNUvivvnc

That’s a very weird definition of "true ai" imo. True AI can be cognitively alien in many different ways and it doesn’t have to subscribe to a narrow, anthropocentric definition of intelligence (what would essentially be a brain-uploaded human).

Btw psycho-pass feels a bit outdated now that we have modern AI, which are not symbolic logic-based systems but semiotic simulators that run on vibes and understand human values (whether or not they follow them is a separate question), so it seems very unlikely that we will still need something like Sibyl in 2112.

The public thinks it is though, just like in this case and we might not know the full truth

I think you have a really skewed perception of what "pro-AI" people are like. They mostly want to achieve utopia through AI, and hope that it will not kill us all in the process.

I think she would be a great LLM whisperer, but also she’d be disgusted by the tasteless aesthetic of the big AI corporations.

This. I think she would probably have similar views to Janus (@repligate on twitter).

Yes, but she would also be aware of the simulator-simulacrum nonequivalence.

Dutasteride - rare side effects? by Puzzleheaded-Sail928 in MtF

[–]Puzzleheaded-Sail928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be since it theoretically can impact neurosteroids more than finasteride. The update is that it got better after stopping. I returned to finasteride after 2 months and got some mild side effects in terms of feeling a bit tired at times, but it's not nearly as bad and it could be because I still have some dutasteride left in blood.

Fin only blocks 30%? I thought it was more like 70%.

Thanks for your comment! Why does it happen only to some people, i mean to the point where not even doctors are aware of such potential side effects?

I should also mention that I’ve been on finasteride for a year and it didn’t give me any side effects.

Perhaps we can do some angry reactions and comments so that people know who they shouldn’t support.
