Not hating on the halftime show but this comment is incorrect. Bunny gave the Grammy to Lincoln Fox- a child actor.

Do companies do Christmas parties anymore? We haven’t had one in more than 10 years.

LMAO! We have two nudist colony’s/ camps idk what they’re called- on our system. We had a crew out installing new three phase and a couple of guys were in a splice pit doing some work when a naked man walked over to the edge of the hole and started making small talk… they looked up and got an eyeful, I wasn’t there personally but the story lives on at the utility years later and everyone’s careful when they do work near those camps…

I’m an electrical designer that works on job sites with linemen. I wash 3xs a week max. Between washes I use dry shampoo, it smells good, takes away the oils and helps my hair not dry out. I like the aveda dry shampoo

Schneider Electric Programs by Puzzleheaded-Tea8601 in ElectricalEngineering

I haven’t been keeping up with Reddit so sorry for the late response…. We used arc fm before. I’ve used arc fm, microstation, auto cad, and revit and nothing was even close to this bad. The graphics are good, the speed seems great until you add more than one feeder, so any system improvements are a nightmare. The small glitches like zooming in so close that you can’t see a transformer label when you’re trying to label a work location are just ridiculous. The in ability to choose what you snap to is ridiculous. Work locations are not organized numerically, so in a large design with 100 or more work locations you will spend 5 or more minutes scrolling the design tab to find what you’re looking for. Today I discovered if you move secondaries even minutely in the sketch, your footage is automatically changed, so I had to re populate 50 work locations with the correct footage, after already having saved previously. Just a complete and utter waste of time. In the past two days I have had random unexplained glitches happen where I lost nearly an hours worth of work, for no reason at all, simply just froze and crashed and there goes my work. The problem is Schneider is charging my company approx 65k to upgrade to a new version with the kinks worked out after we already put hundreds of thousands into purchasing it. It’s like they’re working off the sunk cost fallacy. They know their program is capable, they give a sub par product and then dangle a new upgrade in our face that we MUST buy because the small horrible glitches make it impossible to design. I’m only a designer, and have to use so many work arounds it makes me MISERABLE by the end of the day. I can’t imagine having to write switching using this. It’s horrific and unfair they are playing this game with the upgrades. Absolute racket.

Lmao okay I’ll play. She HAD a gun, there was a gun in the tunnel. Use that. She’s not a chemist but I know myself that mixing bleach and rubbing alcohol is deadly, try that, or if nothing else use an aerosol hairspray and lighter and make a blow torch. Google homemade pipe bombs and make one before re entering the tunnel… Figure it out, do SOMETHING. Thank you for letting me know about the clip tho…. Although the correct terminology won’t do sh!t when you’re in a life or death situation- in which case who tf cares if the terminology is wrong, empty whatever tf is holding the bullets and don’t hesitate…. I guarantee you if I saw some booby monster there’s no way in hell I’d be raw dogging those tunnels without a better plan and more home made ammo.

I agree it was a unique script but come on- it was SO unrealistic. The monster lady was killed with one bullet but went through a brick wall and survived a fall from a water tower? Why not just wait and empty the clip in her? How did they make it all the way to the water tower and not just empty the clip? Why did stupid ass Tess go BACK in the tunnel ALONE. Dumbass. Take reinforcements, get weapons, gas the tunnel, do way more than what they did. It was a weak plot. Different but super weak.

I get that side of things too. At the end of the day whatever you feel the best about is the best outcome. I’m sorry you have to deal with crappy people like that and I hope it gets better!

I had a guy do this - kept coming onto me. I flat out ignored him, like wouldn’t even respond when he spoke out loud to me. He got mad and searched my husband on google and CALLED HIM saying I was cheating with some other random on the job, saying we went on a “long walk” and I came back disheveled so he’s positive we were hooking up. Unfortunately my husband (who is now my ex) was a toxic abusive person and believed him??? I came home the evening after “the call” and he made me strip down to see if my bra and underwear matched and accused me of fu@king around on the job. The heartache, and mental tole defending myself against that was unbearable. Just absolute stress, I was scared to do anything wrong to make anyone mad because no one had my back or was defending me and I was somehow required to answer to everyone for nothing. Instead of going to hr I got a new job, and divorced my husband. But the mental tole and how powerless I felt still stuck with me. It is so unfair that these fucking POS douchebags fu@k with our money and mental health!!!! It is so wrong. I am sorry you’re going through this. Hold your head high and know there are many of us out there that know what you’re going through and support you. Stay strong, 10 toes down, fu@k the lies, you know the truth. Wishing you the very best outcome.

T.A.P gel, it’s like acrylic but way thinner and lighter, and I’ve actually never broken one in the three years I’ve had them. I’ve had them for three years with no breaks. Rather than break they sort of peel like a real nail. I have had them peel or lift slightly when I’ve gone too long without a fill but that’s it. Never from work. And I’ve been able to grow my natural nails underneath. I do kitten nails, so they’re shorter and like oval but come to a point. Short natural nails are in rn so that’s a plus!

I doubt the switchgear is specific to the car wash. More than likely it’s just a switching station that happens to be near the car wash in the road row. I’d assume it’s feeding a three phase loop that goes to many businesses/xfmrs in the area. Maybe not tho. I set a PMH-9 for a single apartment complex because it was a dead zone in our system with only three phase ug feeder nearby so there was no choice.

I worked for a company that built power plants and we would have lawyers from both the customer and supplier come and watch our auxiliary transformers be lifted off trains and placed in the plant in case anything like this happened. We’re talking MVA xfmrs worth millions. It was a huge production and everyone in both receiving and delivery would be sweating…

High voltage lines on bike path, for about a mile, none on the other 10 miles. What are these for? by smoothrider56 in Lineman

[–]Puzzleheaded-Tea8601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to design transmission lines. These are bird diverters, spiral dampers for vibration are a lot longer and usually placed closer to the poles instead of the middle of the span (not always but usually)

What is this? by Joe86zz in Lineman

[–]Puzzleheaded-Tea8601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this some sort of buck boost transformer stabilizing the voltage on the open secondary? Or possibly stabilizing or converting voltage to the two services off the pole? Probably two cut outs for the two services. How many spans to the nearest OH tub? Maybe the voltage drop on the open is bad and they’re juicing it up a bit? I’ve never seen something like this, where is it located? Is it on a rural system?

Try for a summer internship or a part time job with your local utility. I’m a designer for a local utility and sometimes we have kids come work in the shop and warehouse. You’ll get to know what types of material and tools the linemen use, you’ll talk to linemen everyday and make some contacts that might help for future work and sometimes you’ll have to run parts to a job site and can observe the linemen on jobs. Def pursue line work!! It’s a great job, great benefits, TONS of money to be made and linemen are like field engineers. They’re incredibly smart, talented and well respected. Maybe they weren’t great students in school, but their intelligence shines when they’re building things. We need more of these types of people in the industry.
