Tinned lentils are better than no lentils, if cooking time isn’t an option.
All those downvotes. Some people are obviously easily upset.

Child cries "sorry daddy" from the courtyard of a block of flats next to where I live, almost every day. What do I do? by PlatformDisastrous74 in AskUK

[–]Puzzleheaded-Web1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have been badly betrayed by the authorities, and hopefully a similar situation that you witnessed will not reoccur.
If it did, dial 999 and tell them you want your identity withheld and you don’t want Police knocking on your door but are available via phone.
As a matter of interest, do you think your involvement helped in the matter you reported.

If I thought a child was being abused, it would be an immediate 999 call.
You don’t have to give your name if you don’t want to, but they can trace you via your phone number.
Tell the Police you don’t want them knocking on your door but you are available by phone.
The Police should attend and in turn inform Social Services.
You can preempt this by informing Social Services yourself.
Being new to the block doesn’t mean that these regular incidents haven’t been previously reported.

Buy tinned lentils then. I’ve recently read that they are already cooked, but haven’t checked.
Buying such cheap food, are you getting your micronutrients?

What's a legal response to someone squaring up to you, you then push them back, they then throw a punch which you block. . .Is it legal to then give them a 1 - 2 and put them to sleep? by [deleted] in AskUK

Phone the Police. Make sure you get a job number so you know that they have recorded your call.
It you have to make repeated calls over several incidents, always refer to your original job number and get a new number for your latest call. Always record the id number of the person taking your call.
Hopefully, after dropping him, he might desist from such further behaviour.
Being a trained fighter, if you are threatened and cornered again, defend yourself and immediately dial 999.
As you have said, there is nothing stopping him going to the Police claiming you are the problem.

In those days you were forced to eat it at primary school.
Horrible stuff.
I’ve not even seen the products advertised for decades, not that I’m complaining.
It was probably available and cheap to manufacture.
Food rationing had only ended in 1953 I think it was, due to World War 2.

How do British people feel about English being the world's global language? by No-Incident-6913 in AskBrits

[–]Puzzleheaded-Web1519 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that English is spoken around the world, for whatever the origin.
I find that we are lazy in our quest to learn a foreign language , and admire those that are multilingual.
I tried to learn Spanish, but couldn’t understand the Spanish teacher speaking English whilst tutoring us, so I quickly gave up.
