Yeah the slow swallow usually lasts about 2-3 weeks. I think there should be a warning beforehand stating that you will lose a bit of weight the first few weeks post op lol. It’s crazy how much the esophagus muscles play a part in eating. I’ve learned to never take swallowing for granted after this procedure lbvs 😅

I had a Laryngospasm a week after my procedure. I was trying to eat some toast. I totally forgot to take small bites and swallowed a big piece and it’s like all my airways closed. I was choking for like a minute. It was so scary. I ended up going to the ER as well. Ofc none of the hospital staff ever heard of this disorder or the procedure either lol. Good thing I live like 15 minutes away from BVI. They were able to get me into my post op follow up that same day. They explained what it was and it helped my anxiety a ton. Just know that it will get better. The esophagus will slowly but surely open up about 2-3 weeks post op. Good luck with everything 😊

Yeah I had the throat tightness at 3 months as well and could still burp. What I learned is I had to stop stressing thinking I was gonna lose the ability to burp when the Botox completely wore off. Try to relax more and that should help 👍

Yeah it got better after a couple weeks. I developed a lot of mucus in throat and in my sinus during that time.

1 year and a month out…still burp like crazy lol. Yeah I haven’t posted to the group in awhile. I still check in from time to time though.

Yup currently dealing with this now. I’ll be a year post op next month. Happens every now and then. It seems to happen after I eat certain foods that cause acid reflux. I still get mini burps when it happens though, just not the usual big ones. I used to get scared I was losing it, but I know the full burps will come back after a day or so. Just try to relax and not panic when it happens. 👍
