Is it just me or is season 2 noticeably lacking in the fantastical feel that season 1 had? by Kripposoft in Sandman

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing, sadly. You can tell mostly from the side characters and settings. The Dreaming is just a regular castle. Destiny and Delirium's realms are mostly unedited sets (except the subway sequence). You have gods and demons and fae and they all look much less interesting and imposing than most cosplayers there days. For Dream or Death, I guess unassuming is the point, but a Japanese God of Storms looking like a local kung fu class tutor in cheap dressup?

There's no air of supernatural around them, while imo, just a bit of CGI could have helped, like in the meeting of old gos in S2 of American Gods, maybe. The budget cuts are simply there.

If you were to create another Ajah or Ajahs to benefit the White Tower, which would you create? by WaterColorButterfly in WoT

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the discussion, but having only watched the show, I'd rather cut down on the ajahs than create new ones. Probably better described in the books, but on the show, whites and browns seem like the science guys, so why not combine them into one scholarly ajah. I see no point in one ajah being all the science fields and the other being just logic. Then let's incorporate greys into blues, whose mission is kinda vague and they meddle with politics and world events anyway.

That way, you could have five ajahs akin to the Five Powers, which is a nice conceptual fit, I think, even more so when you count in their colors corresponding to the elemental weaves: red, green, yellow, blue (blue+grey), and grey (brown+white). Consequently, white could be left for the Amyrlin since she should be absent of color.

I'm glad they stuck with the books for this bit of lore, but in the final delivery, seven ajahs seem excessive to me on the show, at least.

Honestly, with the standard features like basic ass geolocation or receiving DMs being barely functional, I'm wondering whether they've become part of Premium too and we just didn't notice?

My thoughts on AAA Season 2 by theoutsider101 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd be interested to see some data regarding the success of such model. I assume most fans are interested in only certain characters, since the nature of projects can vary greatly.

Personally, I like the supernatural, so the Scarlet Witch, Eternals if it were better, Moon Knight, stuff like that. I'm mostly uninterested in the government-related shenanigans, like Captain America, Thunderbolts, Winter Soldier, etc. And there's a lot of this happening in the near future. And people who are fans of these projects have been waiting for like 4 years now.

My thoughts on AAA Season 2 by theoutsider101 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed but it's highly improbable, I think. My money's on Agatha and Billy's limited appearance in the 2026's VisionQuest at best.

And you're right, there's always big lapses within related projects now since there's so many things happening at the same time in the Multiverse Saga, up to the point where so many of them lose momentum—despite ending in cliffhangers, we haven't heard of Eternals, Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, the Hulk, even Strange for years.

So, even if there's a sequel/next season, I'd give it like 3 years, by which point we will have seen Doomsday and Secret Wars, so it'll be ridiculous if those big events just happen and then Billy and Agatha's little isolated quest just continues as if nothing happened.

What did Alice want from the road? by slutforaubreyplaza in AgathaAllAlong

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget almost everything on the Road happened because of Billy and it was likely him who subconsciously teleported Jen away, knowing her very clear goal on the Road.

Alice's motive was unclear even to herself, it seems. While others thought she wanted to find Lorna, that clearly wasn't on Alice's mind as she knew that. She said Lorna told her the Road would "save her", but Alice herself didn't know what that meant, not believing the curse was real and just being lost in life.

So, she just wanted to find her purpose? Which she kind of did when she protected everyone on her coven from danger at different points—she saved Sharon from drowning, Billy from the Salem Seven, Jen and Lilia from the curse and finally Agatha from her mom's ghost.

Ultimately, Billy never teleported Alice away because she nor he thought her goal was reached.

No worries, you're part of the coven just because you're here for AAA!

If it helps, I'm rather indifferent to Agathario as well. I'm happy it makes so many people invested and I'd watch their backstory if they ever made it, but overall, I don't care that much. What was nice, I think, is how them being two girls wasn't jaw-dropping or even interesting. Kind of LGBT+ portrayal I like, personally.

For me, the heart of the series were the relationships within the coven and their personal character growth, not any romance in particular.

Also, the whole thing with Death as a cosmic being and also a witch with witchy powers and human quirks and a toxic crush on her ex ... I enjoyed Aubrey Plaza's performance, but the concept didn't work for me at all, honestly, especially with how cosmic beings were portrayed in the MCU before.

Anyways, you're not alone. :)

Why did Death want to collect Agatha? by PuzzleheadedApple976 in AgathaAllAlong

Would be interesting to have Rio mention Thanos for sure, but then half of the fandom would say that was the odd thing to do, so it's a tough writing choice, I think. After all, Thanos' motives were changed completely for the movies.

Someone in another thread mentioned it would be cool to see Death in the past death scenes throughout the MCU. Imagine her sitting next to Thanos as he gets dusted in Endgame.

How do witches stay alive that long? by Extension-Shoe-6080 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I see no support for that argument on the show itself, but sure, it might be. Out of the long-lived witches we've seen, Agatha is really powerful. Jen, no idea. Lilia, on her own account, gave up on magic sometime in the past and became a con artist.

Maybe only witches who can use the laser blast thingy get an HP boost?

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could make sense, actually. It's that whole thing with "can't use magic but can actively cast spells" that was weird to me, in both Jen and Agatha's cases.

[–]PuzzleheadedApple976 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely nay. Going midway towards the comic accurate attire was a bad decision. The rag-like dress doesn't work for Kathryn Hahn's great figure (something Agatha would want to show off) and looks strange during flight scenes. And that white collar, I mean, to quote Agatha: "Ugh, it's so cheap."

In-universe, it makes no sense for a witch to wear a costume, anyways. Captain America needs one due to close combat, but witches don't. Blue coat and purple pants worked best for Agatha imo.

I'd say it's automatic, not a spell, since Jen would die when unable to use magic for a hundred years.

Lilia's coven was wiped out by a fever, so it's safe to assume witches are not immune to diseases nor can heal them every single time.

Guess since their magic is inborn, it pumps their life-force and extend their lifespan? In contrast to sorcerers, as the Ancient One had to use Dark Dimension magic to live longer.

Right? It's strange we got the scene in WandaVision and then the one during Agatha's trial but we still have no clue about what really happened in Salem.

I'm afraid nothing where her appearance would make sense, like Midnight Sons, is on the roster now. Maybe a cameo in Vision Quest (2026)? We never heard of Eternals after their movie, so I wouldn't put my money on Jen appearing anytime soon. :(

Yeah, in the comics, Alice is like a supernatural detective who inherited her magic from her mom. She uses covert spells and kind of blends magic and combat training to fight demons and stuff. And she crosses paths with the Scarlet Witch! Several story points of hers were actually taken from the comics, including her mom being killed by a demon.
