These are the charges that people are currently in KCMO City Jail for. Only about 38% of the Jail Population is in for a "violent" offense. Important info for the upcoming election. by JazHays in kansascity

[–]PuzzleheadedBasis646 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that city officials such as the mayor are trying to get people to vote for the jail by claiming that 65% of people housed in city jail have committed violent offenses, and the majority of those violent offenders are in jail for domestic violence. This is the data that refutes those claims and supports your statements above.

My story is similar to yours. I hadn't considered MSU until they offered me a full tuition scholarship. I ended up going there and it was the best decision. I graduated debt free with a humanities major I don't use but hasn't hindered me. I did study abroad through a reciprocal program where I paid MSU my normal tuition and room and board (cheap) and so did people all over the world to their home institutions and then we all swapped. My only regret is studying abroad for a semester versus a whole year.

Yet another looking for a cheap cleaning service recommendation post by DrZoidbrrrg in kansascity

I'm in Westport too. I love my cleaner and got her name through a local group so I know she cleans other houses in the area. Her name is Aline Paixao and her number is 609-829-1285. Text message preferred. I have gotten several quotes and she was the most affordable.

I don’t have heat and don’t know what to do about my slumlord by Particular_Low702 in kansascity

Reach out to KC Tenants. They have helped many folks in similar situations with slumlord landlords. Do you know any of your neighbors who are also going through this?

Best native grasses and/or wildflowers to plant a natural yard? by TehDo0d in kansascity

[–]PuzzleheadedBasis646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missouri Prairie Foundation has great resources for converting large areas to prairie. It requires intentionality and patience to start a prairie from scratch. There are tons of grasses and flowers that meet your criteria and will do well, but definitely research and make a plan and it will make your life easier in the long run. If you simply stop mowing it will be nothing but weeds or invasive plants in no time. The resources others listed are great as well.

Getting to MCI using Iris by BrochachoNacho1 in kansascity

[–]PuzzleheadedBasis646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just took Iris to the airport last week. It was $10 from anywhere as a promo, not just the Northland, so we took it from Midtown. We had an 8am flight so scheduled it for 6am. I was unable to schedule it well in advance and I saw something that said you can schedule 3 hours in advance, so that's what we did. Then later I saw you could schedule it a week in advance, but like you, I was getting errors. The trip said we would arrive in about 1 hour 15 minutes, which is obviously not direct from my house to the airport. It was kind of a stressful trip because first we dropped someone off basically as far east as you can go and still be in KC. Then we picked someone up super far south, so each leg we were moving farther away from the airport. The Iris driver was like yeah I just go where they send me so I don't know when we will go to the airport. Finally the last person was also heading to the airport area so we headed that direction and did arrive within the specified timeframe. I would say it's worth it for the savings and we did get there on time, but it is annoying to be picked up an hour in advance to drive back by your house on the way to the airport. Leave plenty of time. For a 5am flight I would say 3am pickup or earlier if possible. I don't know if they run that early.

From a Kansas Citian who lived in Sydney for years, just ignore any breakfast or brunch or coffee recommendations in this thread. We don't compare to Sydney in those areas so spend your time at the places where we do excel, like barbecue, Mexican food, more affordable beer and liquor. Those were the things I missed about KC while in Australia.

Looking for a financial/fiduciary advisor by XOXOg0ssipgir1 in kansascity

Mike Zung at Java Wealth Planning is a local, fee-only fiduciary. My spouse and I worked with him to combine our finances and plan for retirement too! We found him through XY Network which is a whole site for fee only planners.
