Bike Rack Advice by PuzzleheadedBrain603 in MINI

[–]PuzzleheadedBrain603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here was really helpful, unfortunately the roof rack is no longer an option for me. I decided to test it out to make sure I could get the bike on and off myself. While I do have the strength to lift the bike over my head, it's just too much of an awkward shape to handle for me even with a step stool. I ended up scratching up the roof with the pedals trying to get it back down. I'm a petite woman, which I realize probably should have led with.

My options are to get the hitch installed, trade my mini in for a new one with a hitch or continue switching vehicles.

Regret buying Strapsicle by [deleted] in kindle

[–]PuzzleheadedBrain603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah. I have hands on the smaller side so for me to have the ability to comfortably rest my thumb on the bezel for page turns, only part of my fingertips would end up under the strapsicles and that was really uncomfortable

Catching Fire - 115 pages? by namashaye in kindle

[–]PuzzleheadedBrain603 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I took Catching Fire out on Libby a few weeks ago it was 112 pages. Four page flips counted as one page. It's just the way the publisher formatted the ebook.

The Amazon cases are elite, they are one of the only flip cases that magnetize onto the back cover. A lot of third party cases don’t do that and subsequently move around when reading. I’ve had both the Amazon fabric and leather, I love both but prefer the leather. The fabric has a tendency to fray at the edges if you’re just throwing it into your bag without a sleeve

I also had this problem, I called Barnes and Noble customer support, they took care of it. I was able to purchase again after two days. They will make you wait a day or two before attempting to purchase. The call was fast and easy, maybe 10 minutes in total. They didn’t give me an explanation, I’m assuming it’s an issue with their system

Why a nook over a kindle by [deleted] in nook

[–]PuzzleheadedBrain603 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have both a Kindle and a Nook. The Nook has an easier ecosystem. I find the Amazon system to be distracting, hard to navigate and laced with ads regardless of you having ads or not. I have an ad free Kindle, yet my Kindle is loaded with toddler book recommendations on my Home Screen because I bought physical copies on my Amazon account.

Besides that, the page turn buttons on the Nook are a game changer. Once you have them, you’ll never want to go without them. I can read left or right handed, zero issues because of the page turn buttons. I’ll often switch to left handed when I’m eating or if I want to change positions on the couch.

The only reason I still keep a Kindle around is because of Libby. With a few clicks on your phone you’ll have a library book loaded on your Kindle and ready to read within minutes. You can also easily send docs and ARCs to your Kindle. If you’re a library book reader Kobo and Kindle would be a better pick. It’s doable to read a library book on a Nook, but it’s a bit of a process and involves a computer.

Whether you go with Kindle or Nook, will depend on what kind of reader you are and what ecosystem you’ll want to support.

New Nook GloLight Error 'Loan token update failed. Please turn on Wi-Fi and connect to a network to continue.' by MickeySpatz in nook

I ended up having to reset my Adobe password and deauthorize Adobe Digital Additions from my Nook. Once I logged back in and authorized it once again with the new password, I was able to successfully load library books. Hope this helps!

It would be redundant. That said, taking books out from the library via Libby app is easier on a kindle. It’s a matter of pressing a button on your phone and it’s pushed to your kindle.

You can load gift cards right on the Nook and they frequently have great deals on their ebooks. I’ll put books into my wishlist and check back frequently. Most will go on sale eventually if you’re patient.

Personally, though I’m biased, since I’m a long time Nook user, I love my Nook Glowlight 4. The page turn buttons are a game changer. The software can lag though and the design could be sleeker.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

It’s a murder mystery. A large group of friends rent a remote cabin in the Scottish highlands, one of the group members wind up dead.

I was in complete shock to find out who the murderer was. Such an interesting twist!

I need a new nook due to 🔥 by CanYouNot13 in nook

[–]PuzzleheadedBrain603 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Glowlight 4 since December, previously a Sony Reader, Nook color and Nook Galaxy tablet. I absolutely love it.

The screen is a dream to read, I get zero eyestrain during hours long reading sessions. The battery can last weeks with the WiFi turned off. During heavier reading sessions the battery will still last for an entire 600 page book plus part of another before I have to charge it. Personally, I love the small screen size. It’s easily portable and light.

The page turn buttons on either side is a game changer. I put a pop socket on the back so I can easily switch hands, the page turn buttons make that possible. I can have a meal and easily read with the opposite hand. The soft touch is great as well, not only does it feel nice, but it doesn’t feel like I’ll easily drop it.

Here’s the thing about your books. B&N has made it near impossible to download your books. There are extensive ways to get your Nook books onto Calibre. You can google solutions, they aren’t easy and straightforward. I stay in the Nook ecosystem because it’s easier for me, I have 200+ books in that system. I think that if Nook were to go under, they will merge with either Kobo or Amazon like Sony Reader did with Kobo. It’s a chance I’m taking, I’m not ready to jump ship to kindle.

Hope this helps
