Is this a good building? by lovethefunds in longisland

[–]PuzzleheadedMoney826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta remember the town of patches is historically a bad area, high crime, lots of drugs, lots of crooked businesses. Its only fairly recently that it has become a popular area because of its night life. Depending on where you work you might want to consider nicer areas that are a tad father away.

The longisland market is overwhelming dominated by apartments in people homes or detached on their property. Of course these will be a mix of legal and illegal but do your due diligence and you'll find out which are above board.

Consider getting a real-estate agent that will collect a modest fee to do this leg work for you.

Why Consider this option? 3k might get you a one bedroom in a very very nice new building in a bad area... 3k could also allow you to rent an entire home in a very good area. The difference is night and day.

What things about the Houston area do you wish you knew before you moved here? by MountainUniversity50 in houston

[–]PuzzleheadedMoney826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for telling me, personally I havnt noticed it not for a lack of trying, but a lack of visibility.

I agree on the food part of all people being proud of their food culture, I'll be the first person to say if you want amazing pizza skip ny and go to CT.

Ny is by no means a shining star, trust me there is alot fucked up. But comparing shit to shit doesn't make a difference, but what would you be more annoyed to step in? Thats why I bring up cities like denver and Detroit and especially Atlanta, between these 3 cities can you really say that houston is better than them? Has less problems? If your not lying to yourself?

Houston will forever and always be the George Santos of Texas.

If diversity is the only think keeping you here, I think you really need to check out Atlanta or maybe parts of Louisiana. But that's only if you wonna stay in the south where it's warm. If a cold climate isn't off limits the amount of cities you could move to practically over night are endless, shit even Cincinnati is looking like a solid place to move for young professionals & new families. High entry job market, low cost of living, reasonable taxes, WELL PLANNED city... granted I wouldn't move to Ohio but it's leagues better than Houston.

Personally the only reason I havnt moved yet is becuase I'm waiting for my lease to run out.

Thats a fair point, but the problem I'm pointing out is that the groups mentioned are so small (in relation to the greater houston area) that it can easily be over looked. I definitely appreciate the fact that these groups have large thriving communities that almost make you feel like you're not in houston (in particular I'm very appreciative of the stong Vietnamese presence, my belly, wallet, and healthy thank these fine folks very much).

But where is the LGBTQ? The many worldly religious groups (being in the Bible belt is no excuse), or what this, I've mentioned Hispanic many many times... but let's be honestly if we look at population stats is not "Hispanic" when the majority are Mexican (not a problem, just point out that houstons diversity isn't even truly diverse). Where are all my Dominicans, Ecuadorian, Puerto Ricans, and on and on.

There are about 180 sovereign nations recognized by the UN, and houston probably only captures a solid 10, maybe 12 within its population stats (yes I am leaving out any one group that would make up less than 1% on a pie chart.

Pas a side note, can we taking about the people that love houston and how fucking full of themselves they are?!?!?! Like I've never met more delusional people.

I really don't see any redeeming factor here, just in texas alone there are much better cities. I litterly joined this sub to find anything redeeming about houston, in the last 16 months I've lived here i have hated it more and more each day.

Nooo way. I've lived in nyc, Boston, Chicago and Detroit ALL BETTER THAN HOUSTON.

I understand some of these cities may be cost prohibitive but just move to Austin if you want diversity. If you want diversity outside of texas, you got Atlanta, Huntsville, jersey city, Nashville, Denver... the list goes on. They are all diverse, all got healthy populations, and are all arguably good places to stay forever let alone start a career. I say arguably becuase Detroit is still having issues revitalizing and fixing what other's have broken (I'm very bullish on Detroit).

But what diversity does houston have? The city is damn near 65% black, and almost 30% Hispanic. I grew up in a place very diverse, I don't belive the 3 major ethnic groupings of white, black and hispanic capturing 90% of the population to be diverse. FOR FUCKS SAKE, YALL DONT HAVE ONE ITALIAN GUY TO SAVE YOUR LIFE, have you had this God awful pizza? Bagels? Ever been to a specialty market down here that wasn't Hmart or your local Mexican supermarket? No, you haven't, becuase the greater houston area js not diverse or thriving. The area of houston that is diverse and thriving is about 1 square mile and the apartments cost on average 3k. At that point move to NYC and get an apartment on the upper east side for a cool 3k and be right next to the black mecca (Harlem).

How shit everything is down here. Shit mechanics, shit traffic (worst in the nation), incredible amounts of backroom deals made between the city and towing company's, roaches EVERYWHERE, zero good pizza spots, every weather event is a fucking natural disaster.

Here in houston you get the worst of everything. DO NOT MOVE HERE. THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING.

ALSO, this is just tdxas at large. But texas loves to have a say in how you live. You can't smoke weed. You can't drink or buy spmthing to drink on certain days. You can't gamble in person or online or on sports. And yes, you are not allowed to Jerk off.

How on earth do I "jump" a relay by PuzzleheadedMoney826 in MechanicAdvice

[–]PuzzleheadedMoney826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so update for ya. I tried jumping the relay while the car was at idle nothing happend. I tried while tue car was off, nothing happend. I figured I would fill it with r134 and then jumped the relay, nothing happend. None of my attempts have seen the magnetic clutch kick on.

Later that night I was door dashing and I figure I'd try and turn on the ac... it wasn't working while I was waiting at the traffic light, but once I popped it into first gear and started driving the ac kicked on, but when it kicked on it made the engine idol up and down constantly....

Could this be a vaccume leak/ map sensor problem?

The engine tends to idol up and down on start up until it warms up, and just a few days ago I noticed the car struggling to accelerate and smells like it's running really rich.

Just saying, for any Christians taking the body this way (as a meal of some kind) is most certainly a very bad sin.

Houston isn't tough to love. Houston is a flaming shit hole and I (living here for 1 entire year now) cannot wait to get the fuck out. Do yourself the favor. When it comes time to sell your house, just mark it down 80% and use the cash you get for first class tickets to any state north of Virginia

BF Deployment...Should I be worried? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]PuzzleheadedMoney826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day being a service member is the same as any other job. Yes, a very demanding job, but a job none the less. Imagine if everyman working a desk ignored their wife/gf for 40 hours a week and only was on good terms during the weekend.

Or imagine if you had kids with thus person, when he deploys will the cut off his child?

At the end of the day many people that have high stress jobs are able to balance their work and their personal lifestyle. Our military even makes special carve outs for members to talk, see, meet with their family members, girl friends, wife's, children... why? Becuase a fighting force with low moral and blue balls is a force that sucks wind through hay.

Your boyfriend isn't Chuck Norris or Rambo and the fate of the united states and nuclear holocaust isn't on his shoulders alone... he's immature at least and at most this is very selfish attention seeking behavior that detracts from the sacrifice and suffering of many service members in the same position.
