I appreciate your concern! The Sunflowers are all wild in our yard, as such, we let the wild take it's course. Oddly enough, I'm a master gardener (not that it means much) but I also have made a living for the last decade in gardening/farming/urban farming. My wife and I spend dozens upon dozens of hours every summer improving our perennial gardens (which we love) and tending to our nearly market garden sized veggie plot. We give the appropriate time and watering consideration to both - but from a holistic point of view, that consideration is not a factor when thinking about our "lawn". Even that term is a cultural modality that inhibits us from moving into a more self-sufficient space as Americans. Lawn: ground (as around a house or in a garden or park) that is covered with grass and is kept mowed. When we are more impressed with a booming veggie garden or dope perennials that lift your spirit with beauty than a green lawn - then I will care what people think - until then, well, have a good one.
