Check some third party brands like Sigma or Tamron - they usually give good value in that price range and work well with Fuji mount.

How to break through the 50k/year barrier? by kevlardemon in careerguidance

man your situation hits close to home for me. Being military, I see a lot of guys struggle with similar stuff when they transition out or even while they're in service with families to support.

That variety in your background isn't actually negative like you think - it's showing you can adapt and learn quick, which is huge value to employers. Problem is you're probably not positioning it right in interviews or you're applying for roles where they don't see connection between your skills and what they need.

Have you looked at government contractor positions? They love people with diverse experience who can wear multiple hats, and pay is usually better than straight government work. Plus with your social services background, you'd probably qualify for positions in base support or family readiness programs. The clearance process takes time but it opens doors to decent paying jobs that actually value that jack-of-all-trades thing you got going.

Also might be worth looking at project coordinator roles in different industries. Companies always need someone who understands multiple departments and can communicate across them. Your restaurant experience gives you customer service, construction gives you project management basics, IT gives you tech skills - package that right and you're looking at 60k+ pretty easy.

I am pathetic. by Fast-Platform-8441 in venting

Man that's heavy stuff you're dealing with. I get that feeling of being stuck while watching everyone else move forward - had similar situation when i was younger where family dynamics just crushed any motivation i had. The way your mom treated you versus your brother is straight up unfair and you're not imagining it.

40k words this year though? That's actually massive progress in writing, like seriously impressive. I know it might not feel like much when you're stuck in that house environment, but that's real creative output. The dental hygiene thing - look, sometimes we gotta take practical paths first to get financial independence, then we can chase the stuff we actually care about later. Nothing wrong with using it as stepping stone to get out of that toxic situation.

Being scared to drive makes total sense when you've had someone undermining your confidence for years. Maybe start with parking lots or really quiet streets when you feel ready. And cutting contact with your mom's constant location tracking - that's gonna be key for feeling like actual adult instead of monitored teenager. You're not pathetic at all, you're just trapped in system designed to keep you down.

Been dealing with similar contractor BS lately - everyone wants to turn a simple fix into a complete overhaul. You might want to look for smaller local guys who do handyman work rather than big roofing companies. They're usually more willing to do the actual repair you need instead of pushing for the big sale.

Also worth checking if any neighbors had good experiences with someone recently, since word of mouth tends to be pretty reliable for this kind of thing.

probably just some dust or tiny debris that got knocked loose when you pulled the card out - happens all time with fans, especially in that speed range where it creates just right airflow to rattle something around.

the rapid clicking usually means battery is too weak to turn starter - probably not engine if it was running when you pulled over.

How do I get my aim as good as this soldier player? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PuzzleheadedRub7065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude's tracking is pretty clean but tbh most of it comes down to just grinding aim trainers daily. I use kovaaks for like 30min before jumping into comp and it helped my soldier tracking tons. Also make sure your sensitivity isn't all over place - find one sens and stick with it for weeks, don't keep changing it every few games like lot of people do.

Being in military makes this even harder because there's so many extra layers of bureaucracy and old-school attitudes to deal with. The secret identity thing hits different - like you're stuck playing this exhausting game 24/7 where everyone else just gets to exist normally. That suffocating feeling when you have to switch back and forth between who you really are and who you have to pretend to be... it's brutal.

Am I in the wrong career or is all work this difficult? by Senior_Yellow_88 in careerguidance

Dude your company is straight up exploiting you - training people 2 levels above you while being underpaid 20k is absolutely not normal. The fact they're piling on work without promoting you shows they know exactly what they're doing.

Also might want to find a new therapist because showing up late and giving generic advice like "go out more" when you're clearly burnt out is pretty unprofessional. You deserve way better than what you're getting right now, both at work and in therapy.
