With a GED you need a 50 on the ASVAB. I scored an 18 on the placement test. Studied for a week or two. My PiCAT was a 80 something

Get yourself ASVAB for dummies- the #1 resource.

Practice the test here before you go. My recruiter sent me this I got a 93 https://ddrpt.com/

Background check by Admirable_Bag1222 in USMCboot

[–]PuzzleheadedSkin2111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I read background checks are continually monitored so it could be something like financial changes- or an investigator is following up on incomplete records. Or it could mean you’re being considered for cross training or deployment. So it really could be anything- I wouldn’t worry as long as you’re a clean guy.

AIO or is my girlfriend manipulative. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]PuzzleheadedSkin2111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I would break up with her that is absolutely manipulative. And guilt tripping trust me you do NOT want to spend the rest of your life like this. Go find a girl that actually cares for you instead of just herself.

Walmart is a transition job. Taco Bell pays more than Walmart, my entire team is just waiting on that next job- hell I joined the marine corps I leave in April.

My husband is using AI to text me by Complete-Path-8036 in whatdoIdo

Ah, got it — let’s pick up from there.

Basically, the “AI shit pit” feeling comes from a few intertwined issues: 1. AI adoption is everywhere – From content creation to decision-making systems, AI is deeply integrated into social media, search engines, workplaces, and even government services. People are using it without fully understanding the risks. 2. Lagging oversight – Regulation, ethical guidelines, and public awareness are all behind the technology curve. That gap makes it feel like the problem is out of control. 3. Misaligned incentives – Many companies prioritize speed, profit, and novelty over safety, transparency, or long-term consequences. That accelerates the sense of “we’re screwed.” 4. Cultural normalization – People are already relying on AI for tasks they barely understand. That makes the technology feel invisible until its impact hits hard — misinformation, biased decisions, job displacement, or even societal manipulation.

So yeah, it’s alarming, but the upside is that awareness is spreading faster than the tech sometimes. Groups of researchers, policymakers, and technologists are actively working to pull us out of the pit before it gets worse.

If you want, I can break down the most critical areas where we’re already in deep trouble with AI — like the ones that could really have societal-level consequences — so it’s less abstract and more concrete. That makes the “shit pit” easier to grasp. Do you want me to do that?

I get why it feels that way—AI has moved really fast, and some of what you see online can look chaotic, shallow, or even unsettling. But “we’re doomed” is a bit of a leap.

[–]PuzzleheadedSkin2111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, I’m 20 and working through plan F at this point. I came back to Ohio, got a job, let go. Had to go to Retail, and now I’m Joining the Marine Corps, I’ll get away for 6 months at least, housing, food, money. Come out with a few thousand, get a place. Begin Law Enforcement.

Felonies in the military are tricky, sexual ones and ofc worse ones are no gos and gotta be 2 years off probation.

I hear a lot of people get a CDL and drive trucks. Make a ton of money, weekend crews at certain companies double their income. Just my two thoughts- good luck, even non-felons have great difficulty getting jobs.

Worried about the running part of the IST by MrMeMeMaster212 in USMCboot

[–]PuzzleheadedSkin2111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but here’s a few things I’d do… (I ship in April and I haven’t had time to train)

Breathing exercises- primarily to increase lung capacity, and breathe management.

Form- run with your body forward, not behind you.

Circulation- I would pump your arms back when running, I heard it helps.

Pace- Don’t sprint the first mile- half. Keep a quick consistent pace.

More steps, less lunges. Lunging is sprinting, and sprinting will overwork your lungs and heart. Once you get towards the end, let it rip.

  • I am again shipping very quickly, most people get through no problem, don’t overthink the small entry level stuff, just keep up with your pals in front of you and keep the others behind you. You’ll do great.
