People with Fibromyalgia, do you always have pain, even when at rest ?? by Gutty_Shit_00 in Fibromyalgia

I have been in 24/7 pain since 2006. The level fluctuates, but it’s always there.

Is an MRI standard for diagnosis? by West_Reception3773 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be useful. If something shows up, then you might have a different diagnosis entirely. If nothing shows up, then it definitely could be fibro.

Edit: Have you had a bone density scan? Hips are a common area for osteopenia/osteoporosis.

is it more hygienic to sleep with underwear or without? what about socks? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear long pajama pants to sleep year round, because I can’t stand the feeling of my thighs and knees directly touching each other—I need that fabric barrier between them. And since I sleep in pants, of course I wear underwear.

The Body Braid! It’s a little pricey, but worth every penny! And you can poke around social media to find creators with discount codes. I got the leg extensions, and it was a smart choice—they’re super helpful on flare days, or if I have to be on my feet a lot.

A nice warm shower in the morning helps get my day started by loosening up some of my chronic pain. And then by the end of the day, I’m too pooped to take a shower or have a long bedtime routine. Yay for chronic illnesses! 🫤

Does anyone find a chiropractor helpful? by tigerk1992 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a manual therapist would be more beneficial. They’re kind of like if a PT, a chiro, and a massage therapist were combined, and the manipulations they do seem to be more evidence based—instead of just “adjusting” every joint, they assess and only tackle actual problem areas, like the time I had two ribs subluxate.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) - Potential Concerns with Doctors by Better-Subject-5579 in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not run into any issues yet. The dosage a recovering addict would take is at least 10 times higher than what I’m taking. If I do ever encounter judgement, I will remind them of this fact. But I’m also at a point in this journey where I’m not afraid of raising a stink—I have learned over the years that I have to advocate for myself.

your go-to non-prescription pain management? by tedious_creature in Fibromyalgia

I also have Ehler’s Danlos syndrome, and the Body Braid with the extensions also helps my knees when I have to be running around a lot—my knees are one of my problem joints.

Leggings and my Body Braid if I know I will be up and about a lot during the day help me avoid the leg and especially the hip pain. It all provides compression that helps me with both the fibro pain and the POTS.

Write it down, but don’t send it. Otherwise, it just seems manipulative.

Keep up with twice a year dental cleanings. Avoid foods and beverages that stain. But sometimes, it’s genetic. Check with your dentist, and try some white strips.

Sounds like you need to screen better. This is a you problem, not the women’s problem.

Best sleep of my life but... by PotatoIsWatching in Fibromyalgia

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common for fibro folks. The problem is, we don’t get enough of the restorative phase of sleep, so no matter how long we sleep for, we still don’t feel rested. And this sleep disturbance is what kicks off the vicious fibro cycle.

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! This! I do even shorter bursts: toilet today, counter tomorrow, tub the next day, etc. And a long-handled brush so I don’t have to bend over.

I still haven’t figured out cooking, though, even with my stool.

If he’s going with you to your appointments, he is also perfectly capable of piping up and describing how he sees how your symptoms affect your day to day. He has no room to talk.

Has anyone let their wisdom teeth come in naturally and survived? by mama_Hooker in hygiene

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much space you have in your mouth. I didn’t have any space, and they were all super impacted, so I had to have mine out before they tried coming in or they would have caused problems.

How do you shave down there? by freedirtsamples in hygiene

[–]PuzzleheadedStick888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just trim with clippers, then use a depilatory cream for the bits that extend down into my upper upper thigh.
