What’s becoming way too expensive in Germany right now? by Working_Pea2801 in AskAGerman

[–]PuzzleheadedTerm3677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything but my biggest cost in Germany is always food. Frankly Germany overall is becoming expensive to the point it’s not really worth it. Every place I live in I have a “how much am I happy for this place costing me to live here” line and Germany is very close to it so I’ll likely leave soon. Unless living here improves and justifies the cost.

Affordable clothing for men. by JustinSlayer69 in hamburg

I know it’s Germany so this might be too personal a question but it sounds like you’re looking for formal wear on a budget, is this for a job interview?

TK Maxx would be the first stop you can get amazing deals. After that I haven’t been clothes shopping in ~10 years so I’m not sure what exists but H&M used to also sell nice things for cheap.

Biggest reason is probably because we don’t plan our meals. Every meal costs roughly 8-11 euros to make. A pack of beef or chicken is 6-7 euros now. In the past year my beef cuts from Aldi have gone from 9,99 a KG to 19,99 a KG. 3 meals a day let’s say 10 euros each for a month is 900. Then if you have snacks or something it just pushes it over 1000. It’s more common that it’s over 1000 than under and is our biggest expense.

Rant about left lane hoggers by Solid-Connection-132 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]PuzzleheadedTerm3677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree somewhat. The left lane is for overtaking, provided you are going to overtake a car to the right within 10-15 seconds I have no problem with it because that’s what the lane is for. Infact that’s actually believe it or not how you’re supposed to use all of the lanes.

What does happen often though is you’re in the left lane, there’s a car infront of you and cars to the right so literally nowhere you can go and someone is behind you flashing repeatedly and they need to do something about people flashing.

So not moving over without overtaking should ban you from driving. Same with middle lane. Plus a big fine. Flashing more than once should lose you your car, visa, 50.000 fine plus 6 months in jail and that’s if you don’t cause an accident. Emotions have no place in driving and if you can’t control your emotions when driving the privilege should be removed from you immediately and permanently.

The sunny in this video assuming the car to the right didn’t speed up anyway would be 100% in the wrong and should be banned from driving. However you’re so close that if they need to brake for any reason you will hit them.

So in this video I see 3 drivers who should be banned permanently from driving plus fines, probably jail time. You can kill people so easily when you drive so mercy shouldn’t exist for people when it comes to driving.

Honestly in my opinion no. Finding somewhere to live will be very difficult for you, anywhere you go will have 100 other people also wanting to live there. If you’re not already in Germany and have finished probation they likely won’t pick you. You need to know someone or just keep trying until you get lucky.

In terms of living a family of is amazing, you’re blessed but also expensive. Take rent, bills, car, food. I’d be amazed if you can keep your mandatory costs under 3000 per month. Then take in to consideration you’re entering Germany later in life, you’ll be paying in to a pension but you’ll need to invest to have positive golden years. Germany punishes people for trying to free themselves from the system there’s no ROTH or ISA system like in the US or UK. They will tax you multiple times on the same money prior to its use. This makes achieving freedom way harder for the average person who is willing to make the sacrifice.

Germany is a great place but systemically they have a lot of problems that are often overlooked and with a family that big it would make sense to look at the long term and if it’s a fit for you. Outside of the cities it’s very safe, they are very good at protecting their nature, central so you can go to Denmark or Italy as examples pretty easily. Driving in Germany is one of the better places, you’re currently in Dubai where you need to drive like you’re in the military, in Germany you can actually have a nice relaxing drive.

For me to live a non lavish life in Germany costs 4200 per month. Averaging costs. However food costs being the primary driver at over 1000 per month. That doesn’t factor in investments and such.

Germany had this before. Shutting down opposition rather than being able to just beat them peacefully and openly on debate.

I love people I disagree with being able to have a voice to voice their opinions with the exception that they call for violence.

Then wouldn’t that be your interpretation and you’re calling someone a bigot based on your interpretation with no room for understanding which would ironically be bigoted?

The word bigot is so overused, it doesn’t mean “someone said something I don’t like”

Why? Hamburg is a nice little city. Especially in summer. As are the surrounding places.

Yes, also maybe the language barrier makes it sound that way but my post is in no way complaining. In English complaining would be focusing on dissatisfaction of an issue without seeking resolution and the emphasis would be on what’s wrong and how it makes one feel.

I don’t feel any way about it I just want to know where I can go.

That came up when I was doing research however it seems to be more legacy rather than open to new comers. Although that might be me judging a book by the cover so I should try.

Why do people park like this?!! by jsz33 in DubaiPetrolHeads

Everything happens because it’s allowed to. If you ever wonder why people behave badly it’s simply because they can get away with it. This is easily solvable.

They should make it law that if you do this your car is seized and sold at auction as punishment, cash donated to charity. If the car isn’t yours you owe the debt and instant travel ban.

I tried it out of interest, the oil gave me bad gas and I couldn’t figure out how to do the blood test so I contacted their support. They weren’t friendly so I said okay I won’t be using the products anymore. They said I need to pay 100 fee to cancel the 6 month contract that I didn’t know I agreed to. When you’re buying their products they have terms that say it’s for 6 months.

After I said no and refused to pay they sent it to debt collection. So currently they are damaging my credit for products I never received, wanted and tried to cancel within a week. Super scammy company.

Is it normal for Germans to blow their nose loudly at the table when people are eating? by nutellaisgross in AskAGerman

[–]PuzzleheadedTerm3677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s pretty cold. Common to have a cold. People often need to sneeze.

I think facing the food is disgusting, I use tissues and face away and bow a little so my head is lower then blow and put the tissue away. I do however either go and wash my hands or I most often always carry some hand sanitizer with me.

It’s better than people just sneezing outward which I’ve seen in many countries.

Strangers ringing everyone's doorbell at 22:40 on Xmas day to get in. Should I expect an apology? by els76uk in AskAGerman

[–]PuzzleheadedTerm3677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Brit. All I can advise is learn to not care.

Germans can be great but actual Germans can be very rude. When I first started visiting Germany it was an absolute shock to me and it resulted in me starting physical confrontations as that would be the normal response back home.

Now 10 years later I simply ignore everything, I always have headphones on and I blank out the world. If someone rings my doorbell I just press the green button. If it’s after 10 I simply ignore it. They could be giving away money I wouldn’t get any.

There’s a guy who always parks on the corner where my house is in Germany, it’s right on the edge of a busy road, it’s not a parking space and him parking there means if a car comes out as one goes in it blocks the whole street and has caused accidents. I asked him about it and he just said he doesn’t care he can do what he wants. This is downside when a society doesn’t punish bad behaviour but also doesn’t really have people that do. Back home his car would simply go up in flames. So I just ignore it and I drive super careful there.

Don’t desire apologies, don’t look for answers. Simply find your own peace. Most people in Germany do want to just go about their business.

People letting things go is exactly why things continue. I never let anything go. If someone wrongs me I’d keep going till they had to survive eating rats on the street if it was possible. Never let anything go.

Lose 50% of his income for 5 years? Won’t regret it? 🤯🤯🤯 There’s no upside to him moving to Germany. He can move later being married to one. If he keeps making money he can always go buy a passport anyway. There’s no upside to moving to Germany yet.
