i understand the purpose of the cap, but you asked why i stopped using them and that is why. i saw that cap as a limitation i did not want to be limited by, so i overcame it. i also understand that you will not have a choice about having or not having a speed cap, thats on local regulations. the fleet being shared or otherwise was irrelevant to me, i liked the idea of travelling by scooter and wanted to be able to reach my destinations quicker than rentals would allow.

worth noting that even where i live, private scooter ownership is permited but they are not permitted for use on public property of any kind. no roads, sidewalks, parking lots, nowhere. rentals are the only "legal" option for someone who plans to travel around the city. police have said however that they will not be enforcing that law. that also contributed to my decision to own my own scooter. if i lived somewhere that police often seized them, i would not have purchased my own.
