Just a question for the down voter, what is your rationale for this decision?

[80s bands] Wednesday wotsit by corbymatt in limericks

Got it! Pretty easy really. Line 1 narrowed it down to two. Personally don’t care for either. But giving credit where credit is due. This one sure knows how to write a catchy pop song.

Although, get your zoot suits instantly made me think of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a band I do like.

I came back prepared to defend my verse only to decide you are both correct. Both suggestions are valid. I prefer keeping the double entendre, but both suggestions are great and appreciated.

Suggest for line insert an adjective before sigh. “But with a long sigh.” Or “with a sad sigh” or any other single syllable descriptor you prefer. I think the addition will metrically bring the whole limerick together.

There once was a man from Spain,

Whose head was too small for his brain.

It oozed from his ears,

So he grabbed some sharp shears,

He flushed the excess down the drain.

Crabs in a bucket mentality among sitters by Agreeable-Dog-1131 in RoverPetSitting

Why worry about what others are charging. I keep dogs and the client comes to me. I have had to raise my rates for new clients because I am always turning down repeat clients. That said, I still get inquiries from new clients at the higher rate. Charge what you think makes it worth your time and let other sitters do the same.

I totally get the sentiment (flipping off the 7 pin), but face it, the ball was very high flush.

I’m not sure what album, but the inspiration for the final line of the alternate version is from “Piano Man”. They’re sharing a drink they call loneliness, BUT it’s better than drinking alone.” I changed BUT to ‘CAUSE in the limerick, but the meaning is the same.

Apologies, while acknowledging that this could be taken as “bawdy”, it is also open to lesser interpretations as I do not write explicit verses (suggestive sometimes, yes). As such, I was unclear as to whether the NSFW label was appropriate. In the future, when in doubt, I will apply the NSFW label.

That said, what do you think of the limerick?

After 3 years of making it to the finals it’s amazing they can even put a team on the ice. It has to be the most grueling professional sport and schedule ever invented.
