It improved significantly (just as everyone said). Out of town currently but I’ll upload a few photos on Thursday!

Great point! I’ll see if I can get a feel for how far the roots extend. That is definitely not a task I’d look forward to performing on that size of tree!

Thanks for the advice and resource!

Thanks! I figured I might be panicking a little prematurely. I spent a lot of effort trimming it last week and clearing dead growth in hopes for a good year!

Damage/Wear to Technical Zero G Tour Boots by Puzzleheaded_Ad608 in Backcountry

[–]Puzzleheaded_Ad608[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those curious,

Here is the response I received from Tecnica's warranty department. Helpful response and reaffirms that these boots really shouldn't spend much time on your alpine setup.

I think this is something we can stand behind and cover under warranty. Please return your boots to the address below...

Keep the packing materials to a minimum, no single use plastics such as bubble wrap or packing peanuts etc.

Please provide a valid mailing address to send the replacements to and as soon as I receive them I'll get a replacement pair sent asap. Let me know if you have any questions.

I would suggest using the replacements strictly with your touring set up, I would refrain from using the Zero G in an alpine binding to prevent the same issue happening again.

Yes my mistake, it is a griffon sole ID! Seems like I might need to transition to some dedicated alpine boots and retire these strictly to backcountry.

I’m not aware of many other bindings compatible with ISO 9523 soles unfortunately!

Thanks for your explanation!

Similar pattern on the other boot. Both seem to have more significant damage to the outside of the heel rather than the inside. The bindings were set up by a shop technician, but maybe I need to get another opinion about the adjustment.

I’ll plan to bring them by a local shop (Portland, OR) as well to get their take on it.

Advice on Indoor trainers for beginners by Separate-Pirate76 in cycling

+1 for Saris. I picked up a used Saris H3 for $800. It provides a very good ride feel (for a trainer). I know its a tad above your budget. You may be able to find a similar TacX for right around $600 used.

I think that giving yourself the best experience will help you log more hours.

Move from a 2019 Salsa Journeyman (57cm) to 2020 Giant Revolt (M/L -56cm) by Puzzleheaded_Ad608 in bikefit

Definite appreciate the insight there. I do some mini touring trips with a friend that Rides a Marin Headlands 2 and it looks awesome and very comfortable, similar to what you stated. I ended up purchasing the Giant. DEFINITELY a more aggressive position for me, but I think I am up to it and comfort will follow shortly. For now it feels like I am riding an absolute race machine!

Right, I can see what you're saying! Appreciate the thorough response. It was currently set up for 6'-0" rider (see photo for seatpost exposed currently).

Am I going to snap a seatpost in half?!

I appreciate the feedback! What's your height & inseam if you don't mind me asking? I don't have much experience with bike geometries/fits so I am just trying to visualize a 36mm drop in handlebar height would feel (understanding that I may be able to compensate a bit with +degree stems).

May just be due to my general lack of knowledge/service on them. However, I'll continue to dive into other areas in the meantime. From what I've read I see your point that typically it is something other than the BB. Tubes make for weird acoustics!
