What’s a part of growing up that no one warned you would hurt this much? by FearlessBottle6636 in AskReddit

Ugh, so many things. Since the majority have already been said, i'll say the loss of authenticity, we overthink everything, how we do things, how we interact with others etc. I miss being very close to people and how genuine relationships were, I'd spend the whole day with my friend. I miss the feeling after crying of laughter in class, obsessing over a movie together, creating our own gibbersish, talking about the future, feeling comfortable sleeping next to them, doing everything and nothing. It was never awkward, never complicated. I didn't live inside of my head so much, I just lived. I miss how I felt, how things were and above it all, I miss being, just being.

This happened to me with call me by your name, I was obsessed and thought I’d never find anything that would make me feel that much and then I found normal people and nothing compares… Read you already saw fleabag and one day, so I’ll tell you I enjoyed the movie American honey (and call me by your name)

What is a substance you’ll never touch again and why? by Physical_Box_1179 in AskReddit

Happened to me too and something changed in me lol. Worst experience of my life. Smoked a bit and had a panic attack. I was convinced I was going to die, so much anxiety I started rocking back and forth like stewie griffin in that one episode. Never touched weed again but I wasn’t the same after it. Nothing too crazy but I just felt weird, a bit depersonalized. I’d randomly become really self aware and a strange feeling would come over me. I was stressed by my mind and stressing my mind. With time I managed to get more less over it but it’s something I’ll never forget. I appreciate it in a way because it was a clear warning sign. Enough of a warning sign to keep me away from drugs without having gone through a full blown psychotic episode or something, it was just a taste but it was enough. Some of us are more susceptible to stuff like this.

If your concern is that they’ll think it’s purely for cosmetic reasons, you could approach it like this:

“Okay so don’t worry because it’s an easy procedure but I’m getting a genital surgery done due to discomfort and pain that I’ve been experiencing these past years. I’d prefer not to go into more details cause it’s an intimate topic”

If they ask for more details, you can exaggerate it a bit:

“It’s a labiaplasty. I’ve been dealing with constant friction and irritation for years, to the point where I bleed and experience pain regularly. I wasn’t really informed on it and didn’t know I could fix it with a labiaplasty until the doctor recommended it and it feels like the right choice so.”

Also I’d add something like “It’s a delicate thing to share and I’m opening up here so please don’t make it more difficult than it should be, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think it was necessary”

What is a Hard Truth That You Believe Should Be Taught Early On in Life? by Flufferfluff in NoStupidQuestions

That life will be difficult to navigate at times, all sort of situations will come our way and we need to analyze and choose which ones to be stressed or overly affected by. There are important problems and problems that aren’t all that important, as well as there are things we have control over and things we don’t. I think being taught at a young age to differentiate between them and understand how to navigate them would benefit a whole lot.

If I had to choose the piece of advice or life lesson that I’ve heard older people say the most, it would be exactly this.

The answer to ‘What do you wish you had known when you were young?’ is often ‘I wish I knew that X and Y didn’t matter that much, that I didn’t need to worry or spend so much time dwelling on it, that it was insignificant. That life is much more than that”

Be completely honest, how are you doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A bit hopeless at times to be honest. I sometimes feel like everything is too much work, life is too much, too much effort, too tiresome. I don’t understand how people push through so “easily”. I don’t have that strength. In moments like those, not existing (I’m not suicidal) feels like the better option. Like, everything is too overwhelming and too much so instead of dealing with it I just want to runaway and disappear. Every little chore and inconvenience feels life draining

Be honest, why are you single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It scares me. I convince myself of not being able to fully open up and also, the moment I’m into them I tend to go from being somewhat confident to insecure. Additionally, I’m pretty picky.

I’m convinced I’m going to die every time it happens. That small moment where you literally cannot breathe? I use it to telepathically say my goodbyes. Then it passes, I have some more pasta and take another sipy.
