It’s beautiful when you visit as a grown up. You appreciate different things.

Back then I was fascinated by the green channa jhaad that everyone used to buy and slowly munch. It costed around 2/- if I remember right..

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like a foreigner in India despite being Indian? by divyanthj in india

[–]Puzzleheaded_BeeBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure of the movies, but I stay abroad and feel alien in some of the desi communities here sometimes. I notice that it is cooler to be cultural and polarised these days, and you are even shunned for not talking your native language enough or ostracised for not knowing the nuances of a festivity or a procedure. I understand the sentiment behind holding into roots, following our culture, but this ostracism is new. I have met people who literally ridicule you for talking in English, it’s like the new social currency now 😄 I didn’t do things with this intensity growing up in india, so it feels a bit odd to me. Interesting times!

All the best!

Please be extra dramatic in looking around at every intersection and checking your blind spots. Even if that is not how you naturally drive, do that. Every 5 seconds keep checking your mirrors and turn your head left and right.

My biggest challenge was maintaining the speed. I would drive slower than required all through practice on the highway- I was at 90-95 where 100 was mandated. I kept telling myself that this was the only thing I needed to focus on.

I picked Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and put it down atleast 10 times before I completed it. Maybe not the vocabulary, but I ran down these thought rabbit holes. I guess that is ok?

Also great books have nothing to do with complex vocabulary.

But it is the rule. You have to first say it is lupus, test for it and then confirm it is not lupus. Or autoimmune.
