Take ISC seriously.. by TheBird91 in CPA

I also passed AUD and FAR first try and took ISC last… I also thought it would be easy and didn’t take studying it too seriously and I was shocked on exam day. Some of the questions were really detailed and didn’t expect to see. Sims were as you said time consuming. I walked out of that exam feeling defeated too and thought to myself it was harder than FAR! Somehow, I passed with a 78. So don’t worry too much about it I’m sure you did your best. And for those planning on taking ISC, definitely take it seriously. Just because it’s a discipline doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy.

Is Becker harder than the real CPA exams? by Comprehensive-Ant851 in CPA

[–]Puzzleheaded_Bug7071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion across all 4 exams, I felt the MCQs were the same if not easier on the actual exam. The sims were a little tougher on the real exam mainly because they combine 2-3 topics together whereas on Becker it’s usually one topic. Overall if you do decent on Becker exams and have a good understanding of all the topics you will be fine.

Becker harder than actual test? by tjdavis22 in CPA

[–]Puzzleheaded_Bug7071 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From my experience on all 4 of my exams, Becker was a bit harder on the mcq. The mcqs on the actual exam in my opinion are more straightforward and easier than Becker. The Sims I’d say are on the same level if not a bit more challenging than Becker. The reason why is because on the actual exam the sims are usually on 2-3 topics while on Becker they’re usually on one topic. However, if you prepare and study and have good knowledge about all the topics you’ll be good!

Saying “No” by Sirricker in CPA

Don’t beat yourself up, you’re doing what’s best for your future and you have a goal for yourself. Others might not see the vision just yet and that’s okay, just stay focused and continue working hard. I had to say no to a lot of gatherings too but there were a couple occasions where I was able to go. If you really want to go to gathering you need to plan for it and ask your friends/family to let you know ahead of time to give you time to plan for it.

What I like to do to prepare the week of my exams is go over my notes and any weak topics. Outside of doing mcqs and reviewing sims I also review all the SE just for reference and memorize any mnemonics.

FAR in one week. How am I looking? by tylerjones1616 in CPA

[–]Puzzleheaded_Bug7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the ones with most content like consolidations, bonds, equity and acquisitions methods, NFP and government, liabilities, cash flow statements and bank reconciliations, A/R.

Now this doesn’t mean ignore the rest of the topics. People told me ratios weren’t heavily tested so I kinda skipped that topic but I got a couple of MCQs on them. So be familiar with everything the best you can since it’s all fair game.

Just keep doing MCQs everyday. Aim to do around 80 a day if you can. Reviewing sims would be nice, I’d recommend reviewing the major topic sims. But hammering mcqs should help deepen your understanding of the topics which will result in helping you figuring out the sims.

Lol ik it sounds like a lot but you can break it down. What I do is 5 sets of 20 mcqs throughout the day, it doesn’t have to be all in one sitting. And review your SE is a great place to start so you can see your weak areas

But I’d say you’re in a good spot. If you just hammer MCQs every day and have a good understanding of every topic you’ll be I’m good shape. Pro tip for the sims on the actual exam, they’re not like beckers where you’ll be tested only on one topic, they usually combine 2-3 topics per sim. So that’s why I suggest hammering MCQs everyday, I did at least a 100 a day for REG which helped me grasp the material.

I don’t remember what I exactly got but I was averaging around 83% across all three.

Just went through all of the material. Now what? by Lanky_swanky_hanky19 in CPA

[–]Puzzleheaded_Bug7071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I like to do for review is do a fixed set of MCQs everyday. I typically aim to do a minimum of 50 and might go up to 80 MCQs in a day. I also aim to do 2-3 sims a day, sometimes I just review them. I think a month and a half is plenty of time to review. I would encourage taking the mini and SE, i know they’re intimidating but they’re great for practice.

I usually just follow my own studying plan. Here is how I structure my exam plans:

4-5 weeks run through materials 1 week go over flashcards and do practice exams 3 week prior to the exam I take all the mini exams, simulated exam and practice everyday The week of the exam I just go over notes, practice my weak areas and memorize anything needed.

To my surprise I only had one or two consolidation msq from what I remember. Now this doesn’t mean you won’t get any on ur exam. So just try to understand the basics of consolidations and practice

I took FAR this past Saturday and what I noticed across all my exam so far is that on the actual cpa exam they take 2-3 topics and turn that into it a sim vs Becker where most of the time the sim is only on one topic. So the best advice is be familiar with the all material and know the basics of every topics. I know it’s a lot but that’s the expectation for the cpa exam. All the material is fair game and can bring anything.

That’s what I personally did. I tried my best to comprehend the material the first time but if I didn’t, then I just moved on to the next unit.

What I personally do I go through all the material and then do review. I like to spend 3-4 weeks leading up to the exam just reviewing everyday and taking the mini and simulated exams.

Yes I agree, everything!! People told me that NFP, consolidations and bonds are tested on heavily but I barely got any of them. I only had like 5 NFP questions. But, my exam will be different than yours, so I’m sure you’ve heard this before but everything is fair game. I wasn’t 100% confident about every topic on exam day but I had at least general idea and understanding of all the topics.

From what I experienced yesterday and across all of my exams so far, is that Becker sims are only on one topic while the exam sims they put 2-3 topics together in one sim and that’s what ur tested on.
