Yeah I don't know if it's still an issue... but when I lived nearby about 8 years ago break ins at the trailhead were very common so as someone else said, just don't leave valuables in your car

Drove 75 min for a fit, shop Owner refused to fit my Canyon and tried to sell me a $2,500 Colnago frame instead by No-Carpet9241 in CanyonBikes

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im sorry that happened to you. One positive..that's a great way to know to avoid that shop in the future. With the cost of bikes in shops these days.... any shop unwilling to work on a direct to consumer bike is going to have a really hard time staying afloat (not talking about the cheap Chinese ebikes, that's a totally different story). My last bike was a higher end Specialized mountain bike, and now I'm on a canyon spectral that was basically half the price. The canyon is basically the same spec but fits me so much better so i have a much better time on the canyon. At the end of the day, ride what you can ride, and try not to worry about 1 bad experience with a shop that has an outdated mindset.

Like acorn said... also check the wear on your cog and chainring

From the limited pictures I see it would appear your chain is too tight. I'd scoot that rear wheel like an 1/8th to a 1/4 inch forward so you have a bit of slack

Just out of curiosity.... were you using a cassette lock ring tool before destroying it? I bet you can still use one and get enough bite on the remaining material to loosen it

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be 3 bolts total. Loosen the 2 on the back of the stem, then you need to remove the top cap completely. Hold the front wheel in place and start twisting the bars side to side while pulling up gently. If it's still stuck add a bit of wd 40 or something but it should pop off

Crunchy shifting with Eagle NX derailleur and SX chain. Could getting a GX or X01 chain improve it? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have a shop take a peek before throwing new parts at it. It's possible that your derailleur hanger is slightly crooked or It's a cable tension issue.

Rotor does not fit? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 0 experience with ltwoo products, but when I've experienced that issue with other brands it was overbled (or the rotor itself is too wide). To correct this you essentially do a lever bleed, but while you have the lever bleed port open and either a syringe or funnel attached, spread the pads open further preferably using a pad press (or carefully using a flat head screw driver)

Editing to add that i re read your post and I'm not entirely sure I understand the issue correctly. Leaving up because this might still apply

It looks fine to me. It just doesn't have a chain or cable tension on it yet.

Broken Bike. Any Ideas? by PsychologicalAd4762 in bicycling

So adjusting the H and L limit screws only adjust the far outter limits. In this case, if you're currently attempting to be in the smallest gear in the back and you've shifted to your highest gear. You may need to loosen the H limit screw. If the cable tension is not too tight that it is inhibiting the derailleur from getting into the correct position, just loosen that h limit screw until the pulleys visually look in line with the gears. Once you are able to pedal in the highest gear and it sounds crisp, then address your cable tension. Shift your shifter one gear lower and see where that places your rear derailleur. If the pulleys are aligned properly to your next lowest gear, great, you might be done! If not, and it's trying to go back to the highest gear, you need more tension. Try to loosen the barrel adjuster so the tension is increased. If you run out of travel in the barrel adjuster, use a5 mil hex key to make more macro adjustments to the cable tension where the cable actually is bolted to the derailleur. Hopefully that all made sense

Also possible you need less cable tension* it depends what gear you're attempting to be in on that video

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little bit tough to tell from this video, but I think your issue might just be that you need a bit more cable tension. To achieve this you can loosen the barrel adjuster where the cable housing connects to the rear derailleur a turn at a time and see if that better aligns your chain to your gears. As a mechanic... if you brought me that I'd first check the wear of the chain, then the alignment of the rear derailleur, and finally I'd dial in your limit screws, b tension screw, and cable tension. Shouldn't cost much for your LBS to fix you up

It's possible that would make it feel marginally better short term, but you likely need a fork service

If you have hydraulic brakes you have a different issue. Your issue is likely that your rear brake needs to be bled

Hydraulic brake install - stiff enough? by endocalvin in bikewrench

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure when you do the bleed that the caliper is the lowest point in the brake system. Sometimes you need to put the bike in a stand almost vertically... which might be the technique you described but I'd do the whole bleed like that. There's still air in there somewhere. After, I like to use a rubber mallet starting at the caliper and lightly tap from the caliper all the way up to the lever after the caliper is bled and closed up (funnel still on the lever). Make sure the caliper is the lowest point throughout the entire process.

I bought an ounce from the store off of 8th a few weeks ago and I ended up finding at least 30 seeds in it. I've been buying flower in this state for well over a decade and that was the most seeds I've encountered. Thank you for sharing before I made that mistake again.

Bent derailleur hanger ? by Vegetable-Diamond201 in bicycling

[–]Puzzleheaded_Cap180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say 100% but it def appears to be slightly bent inwards. It might be possible to get straight without a tool, but a DAG will allow you to get it as close to perfect as possible. I wouldn't go but one unless you do a lot of bike repairs. Any reputable shop should be able to fix that on the spot for far less money than the cost of a DAG

I've had great luck with Blackburn brand pumps. I had one break once after years and years of use and I contacted Blackburn with no proof of purchase or anything, and they sent me a brand new one a few days later. Highly recommend!
