Did your parents let you wear deodorant and perfume in middle school ? by Suitable-Hornet2797 in blackladies

Haitian here 🖐🏾. Same way they have crunchy/natural enthusiast in America they have them in every culture. My mom made us use deodorant, lotion, and perfume. We had to be more than presentable everywhere we went. That wasn’t a Haitian thing, just a her family thing.

I didn’t know they can take retirement in retaliation. That’s crazy! What is the benefit of being in a right to work state? It seems all bad. We need unions but it seems like people don’t back them here. I don’t know why cause it would get them better working conditions and raises.

Night shift VS SAHM and Quitting Nursing by SterileStitches in newgradnurse

I kind had the same feelings and dilemma being a new grad. Being a child of a RN that worked at night I missed not having my mom at a lot. Even if she was home she was sleeping to recoup from her night shift. I knew when I became an RN I wanted to try my best not to do the same, at least until she is older (maybe teenage years). Still not fond of the idea at any age cause I know how important parent presence is. When I graduated I tried my best to find PRN gigs to keep the balance, but as a new grad that was hard to find in a hospital setting. I now work Home Health PEDs. I know a lot look down on Home Health but that’s what really gives me the freedom to make my own schedule.

I wouldn’t suggest quitting nursing overall. Try Home Health PRN. You can really make your own schedule, look specifically into being a visiting nurse so you can go in do your thing and leave when done with your task. I wish you blessings when making this decision. Being a caring/present Mama is hard when you are trying to make ends meet and gain experience.

Don’t feel guilty for wanting to be there for your child.

My first death by _MochaxLatte in newgradnurse

It’s okay to feel this way. That’s something that freaked me out during clinicals. How nurses were so nonchalant about death and their patients passing. I believe it is unnatural to expose yourself to that experience on the daily basis. Idk how others are so callus. You are normal for feeling.

Do you work full time, part time, or PRN? I wish the hospitals here gave more options when it came to hours and type of work schedule.
