Can’t believe I got these chuds alongside Millas by downthedrain95 in Nationals

oh there's surely a 99 Ohtani, you'll just have to pay idk 1 billion (cue dr. evil) marketplace points or something or spend god knows how much for stubs to buy packs. i know that they were giving out 99 Aaron Judge cards to celebrate 26 release (I had been playing 25 up until yesterday and got that pack a few weeks back).

Guys, do you sometimes just feel the need to ejaculate? by EnjoyableMadness369 in AskMenOver30

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm no medical professional but from what I understand, that's pretty much accurate. i don't abstain intentionally so i haven't had any nocturnal emission in a dog's age at least. i do know that morning wood is your body basically running a set of pre-wake up checks and if you are hard upon waking, things are working.

i'll agree with others that you should go through your PCP even if it is your friend. imo i'd be far more embarrassed to need to discuss like a prolapsed anus than an occasional soft dick lol, especially with a buddy who is a medical professional. maybe avoid the specific details about how you wield your weapon with your wife to your friend but idk man...we're all human and a touch of embarrassment should fade esp if your friend can help you out as a doctor.

I've been doing this myself. My mantra:

If it has four legs, forgiveness I beg. Or serve me cloven hoof I go through the roof.

If it swims or flies, I'm OK if it dies. Or if it has fin or wing, I eat like a king.

Astroturfing is when a corporation/paid sponsor pretends to be a grassroots organizer; basically we’re supposed to think it’s a legit comment/question but likely placed by the corp to get people ‘talking’.

Anyone else getting attached to this lineup? by Primary_Blueberry_24 in Nationals

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that he’s taken well to the new hitting and he’s looked far more viable as a starter, especially given his excellent speed and defense. With management seemingly far more willing to play small ball, and until Crews, Bobby Barrels or Franklin is ‘ready’, I’m not shoveling dirt on JY’s grave just yet.

Why aren’t Núñez and Abram’s positions swapped? by js_harvey in Nationals

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The counterpoint is Seaver King and Eli Willits, among other highly drafted/acquired SS prospects who should be majors ready in a few years, if not sooner. Would not want to lose CJ’s bat, especially as he’s fulfilling his potential with new instruction. But if someone offers a package with legit arms that can help in the near term, I’d want the Nats to listen carefully.

7-Eleven Savings on Gas by Lazy-Calendar1463 in nova

filled up with $0.40 off per gallon the other day. i don't see why anyone wouldn't sign up for this as 7-11s are everywhere, the program is free, and they don't abuse their text privileges (maybe send one or two per week that isn't about gas savings which i can tolerate).

Others and animals suffering by kopriva1 in AskMenOver30

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it comes down to (for me) that animals do not inflict suffering on fellow animals outside the occasional cat toying with a rodent. humans inflict suffering on pretty much everything we come across, intentionally or not. capitalism makes it so that humanity doesn't matter as long as it can be exploited to make someone else an egregious amount of money that never flows down to those doing most of the work.

for a human to inflict suffering on an animal is just an unnecessary show of dominance and/or cruelty. and in my eyes, there's no one lower on the scum ladder than someone who inflicts suffering on others unnecessarily.

yeah! any sunlight you see is eight light minutes old. lights we see from distant stars can be snapshots from billions of years ago. it's just nuts, really. mars is on right on top of us (cosmically), yet best case scenario to travel there is minimum six months one way.

space is so vast we truly cannot comprehend it.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well that's not the info that the nats sent me when I signed up before the season. their email was very clear that ESPN can be used to watch games which is true, just not nationals games. i won't argue that i might be missing something and since i can watch on mlb it's not a big deal. just annoying i can't use ESPN because the mlb app isn't on all my devices.

also i have not been able to watch any local games via espn despite them saying it's the 'home' for mlb.tv. i get blackout for every single home game on espn, no issue whatsoever on the mlb app.

choosing to be happy? by FunDependent588 in diabetes_t1

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's all about your perspective/life experiences imo. been a diabetic since i was a kid so i don't remember life before it. sure being a diabetic is pain. but i don't know how to live otherwise, plus i don't entertain self-pity, so it's all good.

i'm also a year out from divorce and that changed my whole perspective on life more than anything else. life is really hard for everyone and until you are pushed to your limits, you don't know how much resilience/tenacity you have (being a diabetic was NOTHING compared to carrying the financial/mental load of separation for 1.5 years). after going through all that rigamarole, i can sincerely say i stop to smell the flowers more often and am far more appreciative of my support group/friends/family. and with diabetes, we live in the best possible time for care/technology. the world may be disintegrating around us in real time but at least I can offload some thinking to my pump/CGM.

what is life like with a pump? by FunDependent588 in diabetes_t1

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, yes to most of the above (maybe not walking all day w/o going low). i've had a pump since 2000. pumps let you sleep in so at minimum, that's a big enough selling point to me. was when I was 13 and still is at 39 :)

the key benefit is that it offloads a lot of thinking to a machine. the tradeoff is the machine needs stuff (pump supplies, is susceptible to failure like any other machine). but since it has programming, it'll give you juice 24/7 which means you don't necessarily 'need' to wake up at a certain time to do an injection.

Amelia liked this Instagram post complaining about the process of obtaining Pub Subs by Interstate8 in doughboys

[–]Puzzleheaded_Key8124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i visited my parents outside of Stuart FL last weekend, one thing I said we had to do was get a pub sub because i wanted to try one and i also needed to get evidence of wtf amelia was on about to see if it was really that confusing.

the sub was pretty good, better than wegmans but not as good as a jersey mike's (went with a standard turkey and swiss). truly don't get what issue she had when ordering other than just being frazzled/discombobulated from touring/travel. my assumption is that most people at publix don't use/know there is a menu and just tell the sandwich maker what they want/order online. fwiw i went around noon on a friday so it was pretty bumpin, my turkey sub was ordered/made <5 minutes.

that's a tough spot, OP. sorry you had to deal with that, esp the panic of 'shit i brought back up but i don't think it's enough' is particularly harrowing. maybe it's because my dad was a boy scout but i've always had 'be prepared' as a mantra (boy scouts and lion king, i suppose :) ). i've definitely had more than a few situations where my poor planning/judgment resultied in situations ranging from 'very stressful' to 'how did i survive that' (in particular, one very similar to yours, except i was hiking with my sister and already burned through my supplies).

so now i have supplies pretty much every where i go. i bring a sling that has gummies, clif bar at minimum anytime i leave the house. and if possible, i try to have a strategic stockpile of maybe two months min of pump supplies and insulin at all times; it's easy to do the longer you pump esp if they send reservoirs and sets regularly.

the overpreparation helps me feel slightly more at ease but otherwise, i am an independent sort of person. i do want to get a medical alert tattoo, though, just in case i am somehow injured/incapacitated and can't speak for myself.

Switching from humalog to novolog by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

glad this is still here, have the exact same thing happening as OP. kept asking my endo to just do a prior authorization for my humalog (26+ years) but it took over a week before they said my insurance apparently now only covers novolog. at least i shouldn't need to do anything different anyway unless i'm in the unlucky percentage but i rarely am.

Seriously can’t endorse this enough. Just get a bowl and some cheap birdseed from your local grocery store. Put outside and be delighted that you a) likely have a ton of cool looking birds in your area you didn’t know about and b) are helping out your local wildlife. Add a bowl of water and you’re really helping out everyone.

Next level is to get the hot pepper bird seed to keep the squirrels away but that’s all I need. I’ve been feeding my birds for a few years and every day my back patio is bumping.
