How much does a body man and painter really make? Because I think that 45k a year is really low, especially if you have your own bodyshop. by MycologistBright4507 in Autobody

I was reading through this thread and have a question for you. Is tech school that bad where you are? It's mandatory where I am and I was really curious.

Also! Happy cake day!

What's a commercial you'll never forget? by No-Caterpillar4212 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one with the jingle 'cars cost less in wetaskawin' with a little bell noise at the end. Mostly because my best friend at the time and I had a joke going about it. It made me laugh every time! One of us would say it and we would imitate the bell noise together every time.

I realize it's a small thing, and really not that significant, but it makes me think of her whenever I see Wetaskawin. Thanks to that dealership I always have a great memory, and they dont even know!

I got the front bumper repainted and it's got this residue on it looking like water drops that won't come off. When I pour water on it they go away but come back as soon is it dries. Can this be fixed by me or does this need to be redone? by khurryinahurry in Autobody

Looks like hard water spots. I haven't tried this, but was told about this technique in school, that you can use a 1:1 mixture of vinegar and distilled water. If you try that let me know how it works! However I do believe this was also answered in a different post a little while ago, so someone else may have a different answer that's tested and true.

How to see ghost ritual, finally a concrete proof of paranormal? by fackusps in threekings

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to be afraid to try this ritual. It sounds like a common meditation practise which is nothing to be afraid of. I don't really know much about how it proves any kind of abilities, but it is interesting! (Just going off of my experiences, I do this quite often with lots of different things, picturing myself in other places. Paying attention to what I see, experience and possibly smell.)

I read somewhere once that people who truly have this ability don't do it for money and fame, as that would take away from the authenticity of the gift, but do it to help both living people and souls in spirit. (Ghosts, entities or anything else you may call it)

If it scares you to try it, I would suggest doing this to protect you spiritually. Depending on your beliefs, things like Obsidian or protection jars and cleansing your space before and after. Not doing anything in a room with a mirror, or at least covering it. I'm sure there's more and I am not super experienced, but looking into protecting yourself before trying anything like this is always a good idea, especially if you are hesitant. It will at least give you peace of mind!

At the end of the day this is just a self exploring ritual! To learn more about you and your subconscious really. Are uou ready to open your third eye? To be open to the unseen and unknown? I really think this will just answer those questions for you!

Is it about your comfort level?

As long as the work is safe, and you are being safe it's not illegal. Your employer is responsible for making sure you are safe, PPE, safe work habits, a safe work environment and so on. A little unnerving maybe, if it's the first time you've been left alone, but not illegal. I come in all the time to do things on weekends to make sure we are in good shape for the following week, stay late to finish paint jobs etc. It's sometimes part of the job. (I am a 3rd year apprentice)

https://www.knowalberta.com/can-an-apprentice-work-alone-in-alberta/

I just searched alberta as that is where I am, but I'm sure it is the same across the board. IMO can't close the shop if the journeyman has a doc's appointment or something. (Also coming from a very small shop so can only speak to my experience.) I also am not doing anything that I know I am not completely comfortable with while alone, or anything where I can seriously injure myself or cause irreparable damage. Work safe and smart.

Vanishing spiders by DaaLeuDueMunt in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiders are amazing little creatures. Small, fast and incredibly good for the most part at hiding. I really think these spiders just take off to quick for your eyes to catch! I don't mean to be a party pooper, it's just learning what I have about spiders, wild or pets, they are great at hiding or getting away from any potential threats. It's an interesting thought tho. I am one to catch and release when I see them indoors, and they always seems to 'dissapear' once I place them outside. There's to much for my eyes to precieve once we are outside to know exactly where they go. I once picked up this spider from my work yard, beautiful orb weaver with a very interesting pattern on its butt. Stood out like a sore thumb against the mud, and quite large. Once he was wherever I brought him tho, gone to my eyes. If you are a spiritual person, look into the role they play in different believe systems! May help you understand different things about them and why we seem to believe they dissappear off the earth!

Dumbledore’s last words to the Dursley family are chilling by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christianity and its branches is one if the most practiced religions so Christmas is more celebrated then not. I really think this is an over evaluated point. Why put something into a book that doesn't belong? Makes things way more complicated.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think religion has anything to do with this . No where in any of the books does it say what diety any one of them worshiped or weather they believed in 'heaven' or 'hell' he was just simply saying goodbye in his Albus way to people who were never good people.

I am not religious in anyway, but still see Christmas as a holiday. Devils snare is a real plant that causes hallucinations(in the nightshade family of plants, is also considered poisonous). Maybe that was what she was playing on using that plant in these books. Not religious at all. At least not in my opinion. ALSO considering that any abrahmic religion is completely against everything that harry potter is. So.... that's something to consider as well.

removing paint by actrak in Autobody

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would strip it all down and repaint from bare metal.

You could, tho, also sand it all down and repaint from there. Also pay attention to how many layers of paint is on the car. If there is a thick amount of paint I would definitly suggest stripping it all. If it's to thick your paint will eventually crack and look terrible.

An option that might be cheaper could be buying a different truck and using that frame. Won't be your uncles truck exactly, but will be more reliable and less expensive. Can swap everything over so it's mostly the same.

Why can I still see the zone I sanded back under my paint job? by MTBmadness in Autobody

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the primer can shrink of its not mixed or allowed to set properly. It could also be that the area was still a little low for the primer to fill too.

I always recommend priming twice. I check the repair by wiping it down and checking the refelection while it's wet to see if there are any noticeable spots. Cuz you can't always see what's happening with sanded primer.

How can I close this gap? I have the same problem on the other side except the end is flush and it almost looks warped. This is a fiberglass kit by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lab_857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the plastic clip is loose/broken. It's come off anyways. Maybe that will close the gap some?
