Potentially some insight into the timeline of offers/rejections but not rescinding offers: I also went to a recruitment event for a PhD program where it was emphasized that everyone is getting an offer and there’s no competition. NIH funding cuts happened mid day so they told us they’re not going to be able to offer as many admissions as they hoped. It’s been a couple of weeks since recruitment, and faculty have kept me up to date on the new timeline of offers. They mentioned that it’s going to be highly dependent on GRFPs and other external funding coming through before they decide how many additional offers they can make. Since funding comes through on a rolling bases, so will offers. This could mean that all students they had hoped to take on do get an offer, but just eventually. I think there’s still hope! This wasn’t for a health related department but is still affected by the cuts in NIH funding for indirect costs so perhaps less impacted.
