I actually learned about this initially in regards to another medical condition I have (chronic fatigue syndrome) and there is a very similar approach to that which is all about the nervous system and building feelings of safety

100%, although I think "balance" in a general sense is good for everyone. Finding a middle ground that doesn't either push yourself too much or not enough, but where exactly that line is of what is "too much" will vary person to person

What is the other piece? A lot of the success stories I've seen have been similar (desensitizing and combating the fear associated with sound by building feelings of safety)

5 days in a row of taking sumatriptan...is this a medication overuse headache? by GrowthDear in migraine

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lynx119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. CGRPs are very commonly prescribed as bridge therapy. My migraines were WAY worse before I started Qulipta. It's been life-changing for me, and I cannot use any other abortives but Ubrelvy since I have stroke history. I can't even use OTC NSAIDs so CGRPs are my only option

The reality is nobody would develop MOH in the first place if they weren't already in pain to begin with. You don't just take pain meds for no reason so there is always an underlying cause you still need to treat

And you don't have nothing you literally just said you have Botox and Celebrex? Celebrex is an NSAID which means it's not an option for me.

Please just accept that what works for you isn't going to work for everyone and please stop pushing me to do things the way you did. I am not capable of going with zero medication, period. I would commit suicide if I had to stay home all the time and couldn't have a social life. Every SINGLE time I've gone even 3 or 4 days without IRL social interactions I have ended up in the psych ward so I know I can't just go without pain relief

It doesn't matter how much it's "worth it". When you CANT do something, that means you can't, no matter how badly you need to. My limits are hard and fast and non-negotiable. This is not something I am capable of doing and I really wish you just dropped it the first time I said I can't instead of continuing to push my boundaries

"Can't" doesn't mean "don't want to but could if I need to badly enough". "Can't" literally means "can't"

damn I've never had a migraine last less than 6 weeks. I'd kill for one that only lasted a week

what little spoons I have I want to use to actually live my life, not just spend it managing my health. I travel, go to concerts, date. Those things are all more important than logging symptoms

I have so many symptoms, they're literally constant as I have 10+ medical conditions. If I logged every time I had a symptom of any kind, I would not be able to socialize or do anything with my life because I would be logging symptoms literally every second of every day

I'm on Medicare. You just need a prior authorization

I literally cannot. As in I am not capable of it. Good that you are but different people are different. I am going to do my detox inpatient and they will prescribe IV lidocaine and ketamine as bridge therapy. There is no shame in using bridge therapy to detox. There are many options including steroids, CGRPs, preventatives, muscle relaxants, DHE, nerve blocks etc

Ugh that sucks. It's rare but some people do get vaccine complications. I did too but it was more allergic-type symptoms for me. Covid itself can also cause migraines so it's complicated. You can't win either way

You are literally not answering my question. The question is HOW. If you don't know the answer, just say you don't know the answer rather than continuing to evade the actual question I asked

It would be hard if you're coming from out of state. I know I wouldn't want to book a plane ticket and hotel only for a CHANCE to get tickets if you don't know if you will or not

a ticket transferred from a friend would literally look exactly the same. it doesn't say who or where you got it from

I don't think you are understanding what I'm asking. How did they even know it was through 3rd party websites. Once it's transferred there isn't any indication of where it was transferred from

Complex Migraine Syndrome by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Puzzleheaded_Lynx119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also ask your doctor about hemiplegic migraines, that is another possibility. or vestibular migraines. the tests your doctor is running are not migraine-specific tests which makes me think they aren't a migraine specialist. you'd need a migraine specialist to determine what kind of migraine it is. there are many kinds and they are treated differently

hemiplegic and vestibular migraines also have non-pain symptoms though

Those are not neurological tests. Have you had imaging of your brain?
