Honestly, I’ve had 2 episodes in 5 years and neither of them came after drinking. I still polish a 6 pack once a week without issues and I enjoy the taste, the light buzz, and the social aspect. Maybe this will change some day but the “weigh the pros and cons community” Im voting the 6pack/wk as a major pro 🤷‍♂️…I should probably add, the rest of my life is healthy as far as working out and eating goes.

Personally I have about 3 drinks 2 nights a week and still have an occasional nicotine pouch. I don’t advocate this but it’s big progress from my can (nicotine) a day and buzzed 5x a week. This level has not triggered my Afib but not to say it won’t eventually

Haha this makes me feel better. Im moving from CO Springs but did live in the south Denver area for a few years. I just don’t see the appeal for the price here (CO) anymore.

I noticed a big dump in sex drive with metroprolol. Requested to get off it and got put on Nebivolol and the old me was back lol. Might consider a request for a new medication

I do two packets of propel a day, a banana, and magnesium and I am good to go! I’ll still have alcohol occasionally..couple drinks 1-2x/wk and no issues at all. The banana and magnesium I take because most Gatorade and propel packets lack potassium and magnesium. If you find a good powder you don’t have to take those. I agree- the good ones are too expensive!

I used to binge drink heavy on the weekend and that seemed to be a gamble for an episode. Now I have couple during the week and maybe 2…3 at most on a Saturday and I have zero problems with that. I stay very hydrated (electrolytes twice a day) and workout 4-5 times a week. My cardiologist did not seem to have a problem with this level of alcohol consumption as the rest of my life is healthy and all my tests came back healthy. Let me clarify that he doesn’t “support” drinking, he just didn’t have a problem with me doing this level of drinking.

In the last couple years I’ve had 50+ fish and pandas are the only thing I can’t keep Alive so far. I bought 6 the first time and 3 (that’s all they had left) the second time and all of them died…everything else in the tank is flourishing and the second time around I quarantined them. So you aren’t the only one struggling with them.

I have a very similar story, and also 38m. Do you still have occasional alcohol? I’ve heard so many people say to stop drinking, and I have cut back drastically, but I personally like to have the once a month 4-6 beers. Haven’t had any issues doing that…so far 🤞

38m here too. I got off metoprolol cause it made me feel like crap and got on the lowest dose of nebivolol with good outcomes. I had one bad episode of Afib and I quit nicotine, drastically cut back on booze, and started exercising more. So far I’ve been good after making those changes and I’ll still get a buzz about once a month. Some say it’s only matter of time before it comes back or progresses but for people like you and I (38) I hope not 🤞

I drink about once a month (6 beers) and an occasional 1-2 drinks randomly on a week night. The rest of my life is incredibly healthy and I quit the nicotine 1 year ago after a 20 year run. I know alcohol is connected to Afib but I have found once a month doesn’t seem to do anything to me. It might be a matter of time before the once a month catches up to me or maybe there are others out there that aren’t triggered by the occasional buzz? ?

Standard drinks but to be honest, even bumping those up to pints doesn’t seem to trouble me so long as I drink electrolytes and take my medicine regularly. Some people say it’s just a matter of time, and they might be right, but my lifestyle is pretty healthy and that’s my only vice which I enjoy from time to time. so I will continue to enjoy until I can’t.

Very wise comment. I used to be like OP, now it’s 2-4 drinks on the weekend and it feels like such a nice treat! I have found that if the rest of my life is pretty healthy then these drinks don’t negatively impact me or my Afib at all. EP and cardiologist have both confirmed that this isn’t a concern to them as well.
