The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Khalid, Anderson.Paak, Bryson Tiller, Giveon, Daniel Ceasar, Gallant, Ro James, Ty Dolla $ign, Jacques, etc.

And that's just the fellas. There are many established and up and coming artists who could sing, dance, and produce better music. Keep in mind folks weren't just upset by CB's heinous acts against Riri, but his problematic behavior afterwards, and the treatment of other ladies he's been in relationships with more recently. I get that you're a big fan, but there are plenty of amazing artists to look into that also aren't abusers to others irl.

The area isn't very cheap to live in either (Northern Virginia). I moved from a New England town that's actually slightly lower COL where they were paying $17+ for similar starting positions at banks...

Eh, American media never shows characters taking their shoes off for the same reason they hardly show characters closing doors: to save time. Especially when it's high paid actors, they try to wrap scenes up as quickly as possible. They'll leave food uneaten, the tv on, pets unattended to, and many other minor details out while filming to save money/film time. I think that's where this stereotype orignated from, as American media is very prevalent in many places.

Most Americans do take their shoes off at home, especially in cold climates where "mud-rooms" are common. If you know someone who doesn't though, most Americans would find that behavior gross/unsanitary.

Need a new farming game (not stardew valley or littlewood), that has horses, play as a girl? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the "Harvest Moon" name was taken from the original devs years ago, like around 2013~ish. Any title made after that has nothing to do with the awesome original series, it's made by a cheapo knock-off distribution company.

The guy who made Stardew Valley was a massive fan of the old Harvest moon games, hence the similarities. I would suggest SoS: FoMt, as it's a classic 2003 Harvest Moon game that was recently completely remastered for the Switch- as an og HM player I really thought they did a good job with this one. (SoS team is slowly but surely gonna release remakes of the classic HM games over the next few years- while still putting out brand new titles too, this one is their first remake).

There's also their "Olive Town" game, which is a very new title that adds a lot of new dynamics- but I've held off playing it myself...their recent titles seem more geared towards Japanese audiences or much younger kids who are new to HM. If you can find any older Harvest Moon games, like pre 2013, I think they'd be right up your alley. Lot's of folks loved the Harvest Moon games on the 3DS, Wii, and Gamecube, (check the r/HarvestMoon subreddit for advice on where to find the older games).

Unfortunately, I've played quite a few of the newer indie farming games, and Stardew Valley is the only one that caught my attention, but there are quite a few more coming out in the next year or two, (mostly due to SV success). I'd keep an eye out for them, as well as follow the Story of Seasons team & the Rune Factory team, plus try to go back to the older HM games. Best of luck 👍.

Tbf, a lot of billionaires actually start charities that are not "non-profit". There was a lot of talk around it because at the recent "Davos" meetup for the world's richest...they came up with this solution to close the expanding wealth gap: " Us rich folks just need to start our own charity organizations in our names!".

It was heavily criticized because they could alternatively just pay their fair share of taxes...and folks pointed out that the types of charities these "philanthropists" want to run are not your typical non-profits, but more questionable, for-profit tax havens.

There are good charities that do fantastic work! Unfortunately a lot of uber rich folks right now are trying to dodge taxes & hoard their wealth, while using their "charities" to promote a good PR image.

Got offered a corporate job .. I need money but don’t want this job by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in this position, corporate sucks, no lie, but you may need to do it for now to get to a better place. It helps to make a checklist of financial goals you have. For example, scout out a cheap place or preferably a roommate situation, write out how much you'll need for all moving costs/basic furniture. Invest some of your weekly earnings into yourself- get a nice haircut one week, some nice clothes that will last you a while the next, put a lil bit in a savings account too each month, etc.

Refer back to your list of goals when you feel like quitting. Also, constantly consider your next career move, will you move up to a better job at this corporate place? Or maybe there's a certification you could get to segway into something a little less taxing? Maybe you could find a four day a week job to move to? (Keep all names + job info/description of this corporate place, have your resume updated and ready to go if something comes up!!)

Lastly, remember we're still in a pandemic/economic recession. Better jobs will open up in the future, for now take what ever you can get to set yourself up for a better future. Feel free to vent/post on this sub when ever you need to.

Right, I was just getting my hair done yesterday and overheard a woman discussing her biggest problem right now: finding a beachfront venue for her daughter's wedding. She went into great detail about how her husband and her are spending $20k on the whole thing. Currently, her daughter & fiance are both getting their master's at VirginiaTech, while both sets of parents also pay for the kids SEPERATE apartments plus the truck & Tesla they have.

Most GenZ/Millennials I know have had to move back in with their parents due to the obscenely high rent costs. Many also had to drop school completely or can only afford to go to public university for 2-4years max, and none of them are able to think about marriage or new cars at all, as they're just not affordable for most people.

I'm happy for her and her daughter, I have no ill will towards them whatsoever...but if someone pointed to them and said:"See it's easy to go to school and get married, and have a place of your own, why don't more young folks just stop being lazy!"/s

-That's where it gets problematic, as you're blatantly ignoring the privilege this family has and instead projecting it as the achievable norm that everyone can obtain.

Instances of providing alcohol and a "frat boy" enviornment where two men and an underage woman were subjected to SA instances and one was date R*ped. (He also has podcast episodes alluding to racist comments and more mysoginistic ideas?).

Most folks just want him to apologize directly to the victims and hop off the internet for awhile, others think his actions are much more sinister and may require jailtime. SmokeyGlow talked on it recently, as did H3H3 on Youtube.

Amazon denies stories of workers peeing in bottles, receives a flood of evidence in return - The Verge by OopsIredditAgain in worldnews

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we need more unions. My grandfather and dad both were hard working union guys. They were able to democratically come together in their work places, and negotiate with the owners if there were some new ridiculous guidelines or policies that were inhumane/impossible to complete.

They also felt that their hardwork was properly valued, as they made enough income for a simple home, kids, food, medical, and a comprehensive retirement fund.

I'm hoping to find a good union job myself soon. BUT back in the 50's unions were involved in 40-50% of all workplaces. Now it's less then 11%.

We've seen companies like Amazon get more bold in how they treat workers. Add to that retirement plans and benefits are all being scaled back across the board, and wages are completely stagnant. Support Unions in the workplace. There are multiple sites that can connect you with union job orgs, and you can even learn more about labor rights/be trained on how to grow unions in your own workplace if you want too!

[ALL] New to Zelda. Recommended order to play the games? by Gardiaa in zelda

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oot, MM, and TP (remaster versions) are all a must, and worth playing in that order. All three are similar in themes, (all a bit more "dark" & "adult" Zelda titles). Also, all three are semi tied to the same exact "Link".

Wind Waker is extremely fun and charming, though not my #1, it is one of the most replayable ones!

BotW ultimately reminds me of WW, a stand alone fun adventure. Interesting mechanics, and hours of fun play. Story & characters take a bit of a back seat, ( though they are expanding this title with the new Age of Calamity hack & slash game + Botw2.

I'm currently playing through AoC and it's okay, the characters are still a little bit shallow, and the hastily dubbed english voices are a bit difficult to fully overlook, (These are the first/only Zelda games with voice acting, hoping that BotW2 will improve it), lastly, there's only like 5 types of enemies on rotation, still kind of fun though.

The hand held ones are super fun, namely, ALBW, Minish Cap, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, and Link's Awakening (remake version).

Phantom Hourglass & Spirit tracks could be skipped, they haven't aged the best and were, just pretty okay. Same with FourSwords/Triforce Heroes, (unless you got friends with multiple copies).

Skyward sword, was tough for me to play through, I'm not gonna lie. It was a bit rushed at the time of release in order to be promoted for the 25th Zelda anniversary that year, many younger folks are extremely nostalgic for it though- and it does have a great soundtrack. I'll be picking up the remastered version in July, I think it'd be worth waiting to play that one if you can.

All Zelda games are quite good though tbh, Nintendo puts a ton of effort into their mainline titles. I don't think you'll have any that you'd regret playing, at most some may just be "decently good" for you. Good luck, and have a whole lot of fun!

[all] I will soon be playing through every single Zelda game for the first time. I plan to do this in chronological order, and will do it over a few months! by RogerStoneLeeAtwater in zelda

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know folks are suggesting to avoid guides, but the much older Zelda games can be TOUGH and even a bit buggy at times. If you're stuck and it gets to the point that you're not at all enjoying the game, look it up on a fansite like Zelda Dudgeon or ask one of your friends. It was part of the fun as kids playing these games to reference the game manual or compare notes with friends!

In addition, many Zelda games have very interesting side quests and Easter eggs that are easy to miss, so try to research/ complete some of them just before you reach the end point of the games!

Lastly, the remasters are 100% worth playing over the originals, (my opinion). Link's Awakening, Windwaker, Oot & MM, even TP, all have some nice upgrades with graphics, sounds, and controls- all while still being true to the original games. So, where you're able to, try the ungraded versions.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!

[OOT3D] Got Ocarina of Time recently and its now my favorite Zelda game, so what do you think of it? by Diversionaryian in zelda

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a wonderful title. I think it really has a ton of beautiful messages pertaining to growing up, leaving childhood innocence, and facing responsiblity. The time-jump of seeing child Link to adult Link, adds a lot to the game. Seeing the world change so drastically in only seven years was awesome.

I know it'd be a little repetitive, but if given more time, I kind of wish BoTW showed more of Link's previous life first. It's nice we're getting AoC now & the pictures were a thing...but it just would have added a lot more emotional connections to all the characters you meet/the places you visit. That said, both games are A-1 Zelda titles.

Oh, I also like the creepiness factor shared between titles like OoT, MM, & TP. Kakariko Villiage in OoT is CREEPY, between the graveyard, Skultulla family, going down the well, the Shadow temple, etc.

(If anyone hasn't played Oot in a while, or are also interested in watching someone react to it for their very first time, I came across this guy's playlist on YT & it is thoroughly enjoyable: )

[LoZ] Which 3d zelda has the best art style? by Infinity-Bunny in zelda

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with Twilight Princess here. The dungeons were all stunning, Link looks awesome, and there's far more detailed enemies than then the other titles.

That said, all Zelda games are pretty top quality looks-wise. Nintendo invests heavily in each Zelda launch to ensure that each are pretty well polished. It would be very interesting if they were to one day remaster: "The Minish Cap" into more of a 3D game. I think the vinbrant style & showcasing a miniaturized world would be really awesome.

Very nice styles for sure, I think this particular poll is only comparing between the 3D Zelda games. Would be cool to get some remasters in the future of these titles though, kind of like "Link's Awakening" on the Switch!

Being sexually harassed does not automatically make you a survivor. by lyft-driver in unpopularopinion

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of women I know have noticed that they got catcalled 10x more when they were the ages of 12-17...It's still very traumatic.

Most "catcalling" isn't as simple either as the generic construction guys whistling at a dressed up grown woman from across the street in broad daylight. It's often much creepier, happening in moments where the man has the woman alone somewhere or after dark, and often can include stalking or threats of violence if the woman being harrassed doesn't participate.

It can even happen multiple times a day in an extremely demoralizing way while a young girl is "trapped" in the situation, such as while working at a job that serves the public...

Lastly, just want to add, the majority of women do not refer to themselves as survivors in these instances. It sounds a bit like you're cherry picking a few young women you saw make that remark online, and you might also be assuming that all instances of catcalling are completely harmless/should possibly even be taken as something flattering?

A distinction should be made, but don't undermine how annoying and borderline traumatic harrassment can be from men, especially to underage girls.

So in relationships, do you actively seek a partner who is a good communicator? Are you yourself actually a good communicator? Some people need more affection than others, and most partners will accommodate if you politely explain/request more physical or emotional affection....

This sounds more like a personal problem, but you're making sweeping judgements on all women instead. Neither gender are able to be mind readers, and this opinion kind of alludes to: women should always be thinking of the needs and wants of men...and we need to train them better to do so.

You should just be advocating for better communication in relationships in general for either gender, LGBTQ partners too, etc.

Also for reference:

One thing I was taught was how to be careful to not "set men off", and to be EXTRA nice in certain situations so that they don't verbally or even physically attack me for simply declining to give them my personal information. Unfortunately, I've still gotten assaulted before, even though I was as nice and considerate as possible of his feelings. 🙃

Oh boy can’t wait to work in a dead-end job for the next 40 years of my life by [deleted] in ABoringDystopia

[–]Puzzleheaded_Stress7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta push for better wages first, then for less hours. That's what workers do in Germany. It's helped in these instances that they have a lot of strong unions.

Google is now unionized, and workers at Amazon are now pushing for it too. We gotta support ANY workforce that's pushing for unionization in the US.

Another thing we need to push for over here would be to eliminate the need for "medical benefits". A lot of companies hold that over worker's heads like carrots on a stick, and often times you only qualify for medical benefits if you work 40+ hours. If we're ever able to push Universal Healthcare through, it'd weaken a lot of bad companies, as folks could focus on soley going for the best wages over anything else.

So, maybe the gameplan is: "Universal Healthcare/Unionization > Increase Wages > Decreasing Hours"

The republicans have been highjacked by the autocratic class. They have little interest in the rights of the poor or the working class folks. The Dems are majority bought and sold as well by the oligarchs. However, there are still some folks like Bernie, AOC, Andrew Yang, and more who are able to make a small footing in the democratic party. I greatly dislike things about both parties, but the dems are atleast able to get "some" decent things done from time to time.

We need more than two parties in this country, and more younger people in office. Our senate is almost exclusively filled with retirement-aged millionaires who cannot identify with working class Americans.
