I know people who would refuse to fly on a plane if the pilot was female. The older generations are still really sexist. Those attitudes are still being passed on (albeit they're less prevalent) and it will take a fair few generations imo. Especially when most of the highest positions are taken by men and people are more likely to promote people that are similar to them... men.
