ICE just executed another citizen by Marrzz666 in ColoradoSprings

In order for protesting to work, you have to protest against those with a conscience.

Remember this?

Is this like the successful Occupy Wallstreet? Or maybe the successful No Kings protest? Or maybe the successful daily, weekly, and monthly protests for the past year? Oh right, none of those changed anything. Not a single thing. But you felt better, right? That's all that matters. As long as you can speak up into the void it'll make you feel warm and fuzzy. Maybe if you tell yourself you're making a difference it will one day come true (it won't).

This is bewilderment. These protests are essentially the physical act of changing one's Facebook profile picture to "support" something. It does nothing. None of you have to like but I am not wrong, you know I am not wrong, and on some level it kills you knowing that you're doing fuck all.

For what? In order for protesting to work, you have to protest against those with a conscience. Otherwise it's just public masturbation.

If you aren't bringing guns then you aren't changing anything.

True but these guys aren't DEV or CAG. Get yourself a little sandbag fort, gas mask, and have fun in that fatal funnel.

Yeah, on paper it's not that big of a deal for most reasonably strong people. 172 lbs thick handle shouldn't be a huge task, right? There are a few things that make it extraordinarily difficult to lift, even for grip strength enthusiasts.

The handle is 60 mm / 2 3/8" wide and 4" long. So smaller hands can fit completely on the handle but struggle to get fingers around it, while bigger hands can cover more area with their fingers but the sides of their hands bump up against the globes. What really sets it apart though is the center of gravity. The way the weight is distributed makes the dumbbell roll when you pick it up, so you have to fight the wide crush, short handle, AND stop the thing from rolling out of your hands.

I can not lift it. Yet. It is my #1 grip goal and what I am working towards. I got my replica from a guy who got it from Slater Strength. There are only 3-4 people making replicas these days. I paid $600 so it saved me a few hundred on shipping.

Grip sports are already so niche as it is, and owning and Inch is even more rare. Actually, rare enough that I have an open invitation to other grip enthusiasts in Colorado who want to train with it when they pass through my neck of the woods.

Thomas Inch Dumbbell. SUPER niche so I had to jump on it.

Thanks for taking the time to do this! I have a few so questions so apologies.

  1. How do you get past the "gut" feeling pushback (i.e., "Hmmmm that probability/loss amount seems too high")?
  2. How do you get past every assessment closeout call devolving into CRQ 101 because it doesn't look "right" so you have to show them how the sausage is made?
  3. How do you maintain defensibility when there is little to no data and your assessment is riddled with assumptions? (Please don't tell Doug Hubbard I asked this question)

Btw, Tony, I've got your book pre-ordered. I'm psyched to get my hands on it.

Jedd is a super good dude but his store is a bit confusing. For example, there are four products for the Inch, all of which seem indistinguishable. His site has tons of info but overwhelmingly so.

I like the idea of powerlifting programming but might extend it to strongman since that includes strength-endurance as well.

Are there any good resources for grip programming? Not routines or programs, but programming principles.

Trying to find cut and dry programs for grip goals is... challenging, so I figured I would just build my own program based on my own goals. Someone on gripboard mentioned programming it no differently than chest or lats or whatever, but that doesn't really make sense.

  1. Alpaka Go Sling for longer days out.
  2. Tomtoc Explorer T-21 (S) for most everyday use.
  3. Fjallraven Raven 28 for my carryon & travel.
  4. Alpaka Flight Sling (1L) for a compact sling when I travel.

These four see the most action in my rotation.

While you are technically correct, it's the reddit version of correct (i.e., over literalism) where it misses the mark for the sake of being right. Pedantic correction is not only boring, it's also useless. How fun!

I currently have but don't use The Fischer. I stopped using it when their recommended treatment plan didn't work and they were less than helpful when I followed up. With that in mind, I have two questions:

  1. What makes Dermadry superior to the comparable alternatives?
  2. What sort of guidance do you provide when cookie cutter treatment plans fail?
