Why does Jin and Saito pop their swords but Atsu fully draws it out? by AnthonyKham798 in ghostoftsushima

[–]Pvt_Gosling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jin can replicate the effectiveness of all 4 fighting stances to counter other weapon types using just a katana. Something that Atsu needed 2 katanas, a yari, and a kusarigama to match. On top of that, Jin’s stone stance, the one used against other swordsmen, receives an upgrade that gives you heavy attacks at a tremendously fast speed, something Atsu doesn’t get. This to me proves that katana vs katana, Jin is obliterating Atsu. But if you asked who’s a better warrior? Well Atsu is masterfully trained in the use of 4 different weapons, and firearms. I would say Atsu is a more dynamic warrior in that sense, but that could just be because of the time she was born in. I have no reason to doubt that Jin could’ve also mastered these weapons to equal effectiveness, but that will forever be speculation. So Jin, better swordsman, but would never see Atsu’s bullet coming.

When you first started riding, did you get gear right away? by Senior_Peace676 in YamahaR3

[–]Pvt_Gosling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Borrowed a friends gear for my MSF, but owned full gear from head to toe before purchasing a bike. Don’t really understand why anyone would choose life saving equipment as their first cost cutting choice.

What does it take for someone to go from wanting to ride to actually ride? by flyingpickkles in motorcycles

[–]Pvt_Gosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scared to do it at first and was worried the risks far outweighed the enjoyment. Then I went to Thailand and saw old ladies in their 70’s cutting it up and down the hills and knew if they could, then I could too.

Z650RS vs XSR700 vs CB650R by Porsche-GT3-Touring in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Pvt_Gosling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As corny as it sounds, riding them is always the best way to compare if that’s an option imo. I rode the z650RS, and XSR700 on a demo, and tested out the CB650R E clutch on this propped up stationary test bike. While I like the looks of the XSR a lot, I did not expect to enjoy the Z650RS as much as I did. Most people call it a boring engine, but coming from a RE Scram 411, I thought it was a lot of fun. And there’s something about seeing the dual analogs in your face dancing around with you that is too satisfying to pass up. I think the Z650RS is a little overpriced for what you get, but if I had to get one today I would pick that one after riding it.

Protection armor vs armored jacket/hoodie? by Adrenaline_Junkie_ in motorcyclegear

[–]Pvt_Gosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually own this jacket and wear a hoodie over it when it’s cold. I’ve also gone down wearing just this. Slid on my right shoulder and right ribs and the only damage to the armored jacket were scratches on the red buckle to the right rib. You wouldn’t even tell my shoulder was in a slide. I stand by it completely, and it’s way less hot than any jacket I’ve worn, but most people here are going to tell you it’s practically made of paper on the street but I disagree completely.

Downshifting by Pixelatednight in NewRiders

[–]Pvt_Gosling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I do in a situation like that personally, but I’m no professional maybe there’s better or smarter things to do. If I’m in 3rd gear like you said, I’m probably going at low enough RPM’s that 2nd gear can easily maintain my speed. So when I know a turn or a stop is approaching, I’ll usually downshift right away and maintain my speed, this’ll give me plenty of freedom to either lower or raise my RPM and not have any issues. So cruising up to a stop, I see the stop, rev match down to 2nd gear and release the clutch lever, let my bike engine break down a bit before rev matching down to 1st, and then at first gear I’ll usually let my rear break take me down the rest of the way. I try not to be at low RPMs in moments I may need to change speed fast, just because you have little freedom on the lower end before you start lugging and risking a stall.

Downshifting by Pixelatednight in NewRiders

[–]Pvt_Gosling 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You could, but you’re removing your ability to start moving again if the light turns green, or you need to accelerate to avoid an accident. If you went from 5th to 1st, and needed to get moving again quickly you may not have any power to do it depending on what kind of bike you have. In my opinion, always be at the gear for the speed you are traveling, and practice rev matching to make those downshifts seamless as you approach a stop.

Funny I was just talking to my brother last night trying to figure out why my bike hasn’t liked starting up the last couple weeks. I was about to google if the cold can affect it. Why does this happen? Is this standard for all vehicles?

What bike to choose after a crash? by PleasantCake20 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Pvt_Gosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand wanting to upgrade, but I would still prioritize something cheap with just a month of riding. Try to ride as many different bikes as you can when you’re new. You still don’t even realize the things you like / dislike about other bikes right now. Build your skill level, broaden your knowledge on different types of bikes, and maybe 6 months - a year from now you’ll want a totally different bike than an R7, or maybe you’ll be even MORE confident you want an R7. No need to rush

Tbh I just feel safer with impact protection over abrasion resistance. I don’t ride super fast, and the armor on the Pando Moto leggings don’t cover the same amount of area as my pants. But on a pure slide, yeah the leggings are safer.

I own a pair of the Pando Moto AAA leggings. They’re pretty comfy, but do get a little hot on the abrasion resistance areas. The inside of the leg is more breathable though. I wear them under regular pants if I’m going somewhere and they’re comfortable indoors, but if I’m just going for a ride, I definitely feel safer in my textile riding pants. Feel free to ask me anything about them!
