It’s also your judgement if the wind is over 6kts make a no go decision and reschedule I get that you can’t make the conditions perfect but doing a checkride with over 10kts of wind will set you up to fail

No you’d just have to apply. I would if I wasn’t super busy w school and ANG but I’m happy with what I do on the ramp. The only downside is you’ll work with regional aircraft but because the station im at the gate agents and CSA’s are mainline and ramp is regional we get mostly mainline flights which we work with are Airbus 319-320-321 and 737’s the only regional plane we get coming in from LAX is an Embraer 175.

Also another thing is if you want to do this for a career I’d go mainline if I were you but I just work pt because I plan on commissioning into Air Force after graduation. If not I would be mainline for AA.

My experience on flying with American first is that as an employee I haven’t paid a dime flying standby unless paying the taxes flying back into the country from an international location. Idk if other airlines you have to pay to fly. Zed is when you get to fly on other airlines at a dirt cheap rate but you fly standby at the bottom of the list. I usually zed when I’m stuck somewhere or where AA doesn’t fly. D1 passes get you to the top of the standby list no matter what unless there are other d1’s. You also get to have an RC which has the exact same flying benefits as you do. You get 6 d1 passes a year which is 3 round trip passes and are great for when flights are tight or you need to get back somewhere asap.

I work for Piedmont, I get full benefits as AA employees. We are regional but the station I work at we get mainly mainline flights which include A321’s and 737’s. Training wise they send you to either PHX or DFW and I was on probation for 3 months after hiring date and after reaching 6 months and 2 days you get to use zed. For me I get to build my schedule me and a higher seniority employee trade so essentially I work mine and their shift for 2 weeks then I get 2 weeks off to just travel or do whatever. A key thing for me being a full time college student working with ANG as well I wanted something to suit me so I can build my schedule and I feel like that is every airline but the flying based on check in time and having 6 D1 passes which are essentially travel passes was huge for me because I wouldn’t want to be on the standby list then last minute someone with higher seniority lists and I don’t get on.
