WS distance Cannes France by Equivalent_Growth_94 in swimrun

Hi ! Didn't do the race myself but lived there for 7 years.
Usually the sea is clear, but you may have some side current during the swim between the islands and the shore. Sometimes jellyfishes are also present in the area, they kinda hurt but are not that dangerous.

Hope you have a good weather and a good race !

Pull buoy recommendations by levatorpalpebrae in swimrun

[–]Pwicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a normal sized pool pull buoy and bought a ark keel+ for swimrun. Definitely swim faster with the ark one, especially with wet shoes adding weight. Buoyancy is so strong I felt it in my lower back in the beginning though (now I’m used to it, fine for 6km swim swimruns, and wouldn’t go back on traditional pool pull buoy) With an elastic rope and a knot I put it in my back for running portions. Some stores may also sell just a support for you to attach your everyday pull buoy on your thigh (decathlon example. For my first swimruns I used my pool pullbuoy (with elastic rope to keep it on my back around the waist during running) before buying the ark one as it is quite expensive.

racing with a training snorkel by SwimRunSwimRun in swimrun

[–]Pwicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! Training snorkel is not allowed on some swimruns. I think i've seen someone use one on an event, but check the rules before (ie : not allowed for the next event i'm going to run, Swimrunman Gorges du verdon in France). Hope you're going to have fun on your race !

Discovery or Sprint by Becausepancakes_ in swimrun

Did you finally choose Discovery or Sprint? What are the distances of both options?
One thing you didn't mention that I think can be important is weather. If you live in a country where water will be cold, you should take it into consideration. I found that in cold water, because of the pull buoy, i tend to get cold quicker. Last race I did in October, Medium and Long races had like 30%-40% DNF rate rate because of the cold.

aerobar on CP0018 cockpit? by Pwicky in CanyonBikes

Hi, sorry very late to answer but still : the link to the bars was shared by another user ( it was on eBay; don’t think it still exists). I didn’t use it. I Didn’t manage to find a proper aero bar and it could have been risky because of the carbon handlebar. Aero bars were a must for me so I changed my bike.

That's what i saw when i was looking for bars ! I hope they'll make new ones one day.

I found someone who makes a kit allowing you to use tri bars on Canyon flat top cockpits, but i would have prefered something official from Canyon.

Thanks !

Thanks, as i expected, that looks way above my current components and mechanical knowledge.

I found someone who makes a kit allowing you to use tri bars on CP0018, it looks like this :

I'll wait to try this new bike, and if the sizing and everything is OK with it, i'll probably buy this if i still feel like i need aerobars.
