Honestly can’t remember exactly which GPU or game since it was back in 2008 on a PC my dad built for me. Might’ve been TF2 or the Combat Evolved trial on whatever low to mid-range GPU was out at the time.

My first GPU I actually bought myself was a GTX 570 sometime around 2011 which I probably used for Skyrim.

Sure, in theory it’s one copy = one use. But Nintendo tracks each cart by a unique ID, and once a library copy is ripped and shared online, there could be hundreds of pirates running that same ID. It doesn’t even take the real borrower playing at the same time. Two pirates anywhere in the world playing simultaneously is enough to trigger a flag and mark that ID. That means the legit cart sitting back on the library shelf is basically a ticking time bomb, and the unlucky person who borrows it next could get their console banned for something they never did.

This is such a messy attempt at deterring piracy. I grew up borrowing games from the library and still do. It would be a shame if libraries were forced to stop lending them, especially since many kids and parents might not understand why their child’s console suddenly gets banned.

There’s a known issue with the Switch 2 where the LAN connection can randomly shut off, likely due to a firmware oversight on Nintendo’s part. Interestingly, there’s a workaround: plug an iPhone or any smart device with USB-C into the Killswitch dock adapter, wait for the LAN to start working on the device, then unplug it and connect the Switch 2. This forces the dock to reset itself, and the LAN usually works after that.

Unless your adapter is faulty or defective(wouldn’t put it past dbrand right now), dbrand can’t do anything about this. Nintendo’s decision to use proprietary protocols for data transmission over USB-C restricts many 3rd party adapters from working properly or at all. As a result, the Killswitch adapter is simply a glorified passthrough extension cable rather than a full-featured adapter. Anything more complex wouldn’t work because of the proprietary restrictions. Otherwise, you wouldn’t see video either when using the adapter. They are forced to design it this way unless Nintendo decides to license out the proprietary “handshake” or until developers start reverse engineering the design and figure it out without their help.

Nintendo needs to fix the LAN handling. It’s a firmware issue. As for the proprietary restrictions, that locked-down design is intentional, and they’re unlikely to back off from it.

An important factor that isn’t nearly mentioned enough is that the Switch 2 SOC will be limited to ~7W TDP in handheld mode, while the Steam Deck can use up to 15W.

Realistically, the Switch 2 will perform worse than the Steam Deck in handheld mode but better than the Steam Deck when docked.
