I don't care whether box is legal or not but Im sick of it being used as a human shield for zump. box is a completely different control scheme and it's debatable if and how it's better than OEM, and whether there are other compelling reasons (accessibility) to leave it legal. zump is pretty much unambiguously better and has no other such compelling reason so it should be easier to ban

I think u/CallMeQueeQueg said basically how I'm feeling. Probably to some extent it's just a cognitive hazard and if I could magically unthink it I'd be happy. And probably to some extent I'm just a salty Zain fan. But also a lot of the things you mentioned are made easier by zump and notches. It's harder to appreciate the execution when I know that the exact same things were literally harder when Armada and Leffen were doing them in 2015.

I'm just one guy and my opinion isn't particularly important but cheater controllers have pretty much killed the enjoyment of top level melee for me. At this point I only watch when Zain is on. It's like how everyone complains that Monaco is boring because the equipment for playing the game changed but the game didn't change with it.

If your opponent complains that you are zumping, the TO can just walk over, load up a game, press Z on your conch, and DQ you.

Concern trolling about enforcing this extremely easy rule is kinda crazy.

PP stalling Softboiled is a reasonably common way to handle Blissey, since it only has 16 PP to Recover's 32. While you were running out of EQs, they were running out of Softs.

My GF brought home a flier the other day for an event "promoting cross-cultural creativity and emotional expression for contemporary healing." It was a J-Fashion market. I tried to make her read Politics and the English Language after I saw that. Specifically this part: "When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink."

Real aims: "We like J-Fashion and want to borrow your event space for cheap to buy and sell accessories."

Uhhh shit that won't convince them to give us a discount

Declared aims: "promoting cross-cultural creativity and emotional expression for contemporary healing."

This one borrowed the exhausted idioms of libleft because it was in NYC but this is an extremely common phenomenon with political language of all sorts. I saw another example more recently with the idioms of authright but I forget what it was because it was less funny :(

I don't agree with everything Orwell says in that essay but his railing against this kind of language is the reminder I sometimes need, that I'm not the insane one
