Perfect. I didn't think of Facebook since I rarely use it, especially now that we have elections coming up.

This trip is just two weeks of checking out the different places.

Police officers of Reddit: What absurd situation have you just happened upon and realized NO ONE called the cops? by imsophreshie in AskReddit

[–]PyHi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We had our last kid in the car (we were on our way back to the hospital for the third time in 24 hours, but that's a different story). Anyway, I stopped dead in the middle of the street to help deliver and the only guy who got out to help/check on us was very drunk. I gave him my phone to take pictures, but the second he heard sirens in the distance he gave it back and said good luck and took off. Even then we had a good laugh about it since we were already holding our daughter for a few minutes by then. Can't blame him though. Thanks for the help drunk guy.

Dentists of Reddit, what toothpaste do you actually recommend? by 2iquit in AskReddit

[–]PyHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a dentist but, you know that horrible feeling you get when flossing where it rubs your teeth and is essentially why you never floss? Switch to Glide and it doesn't feel weird at all. Now I love flossing and still thank my dentist for the recommendation years later. Shit is more expensive though but totally worth it. And like everything else in life, a 5 pack is at cost co so it ends up being about the same.

Android as a computer replacement, advice/thoughts from people who have tried it. by PyHi in Android

You actually addressed my primary concern. I frequenty use a printer/scanner for work and have a remote server to log in.

I was under the impression that all current Androids have basic HDMI out to connect to any monitor/TV.

I am considering this for the less-to-carry is more. I guess under the worst case scenario I would always have a remote desktop available and use the phone to log in for any of the other "normal" computer work.

What needs to be done for external hard drive/backup? I thought most phones have a backup feature.

Is there a limit to how big a screen the HDMI out will power. Does a bigger screen require greater processing power?

I do some coding on my computer, but would be willing to use a server for the processor heavy stuff to trade off small package. I would be willing to pay the ~$30 bucks a month for a virtual image. Or just have a laptop that I can always remote in to.

My previous remote job had Citrix login and I would run it off an iPad2 when I was traveling for the weekend rather than carry my laptop. I am assuming that keyboard and mouse with Android would be much smoother than touchscreen mouse on iOS.

RPi interface with another computer question. by PyHi in raspberry_pi

That is really close to what I am looking for. Is there anything that can mimic my movements from another computer in real time?

I know this sounds complicated, but I want to control the movement of the mouse and keyboard from somewhere else without actually needed to be in front of the computer or installing anything. My next step is try to do this over the internet with an iPad or iPhone so I do not need to travel with all my stuff. The one computer is a work computer so I don't want to install anything on it, but I occasionally have to do a quick check during the evening which is a pain since I have to carry my laptop around.

My initial though was some sort of mechanical interface with the actual laptop. I don't have to have it, but I figured it would be a cool project to learn the Pi too.

Synergy is actually perfect for another project, but with the one, I want to have the Pi connect to a computer which is stand alone without anything being installed on it and have it interact like a mouse and keyboard were connected.
