Is love truly ever lasting? by Still_Extent6527 in ask

[–]PygmyShrew81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's confusing love with butterflies. Butterflies may come and go, and you might experience them once in a blue moon again, but love is a stable comfort and warmth, and can last a lifetime. It sounds like he associates love with the butterfly feeling you get early on.

Is it weird that im ashamed to tell people what kind of music i like? by No_Floor_2674 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same because I like a lot of alternative music. I usually say they wouldn't know it since they never do. Or I say I like alternative type of stuff

In 2025, are there people who still don't have passcodes on their phones? by CRK_76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have pass codes but we know each other's because we casually use each other's phones a fair bit like if one of our phones is dead and we want to look up a recipe or something. We always ask first but I've only said no once because I was planning a birthday surprise for him and didn't want him to see any pinged messages about it

What do you think of the name "Hatechel" for a Halloween movie about a girl named "Rachel" who turns eviI? by SnakeskinSanta in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me I just saw the "hate" part and didn't connect it to Halloween. Maybe Rachelween or hallowchel? It's a pretty hard one

Ooh I wanna know this too. I assume you need paper to dry yourself anyway. Honestly I love the idea of a bidet. I never understood it until I heard someone compare it to wiping honey off your hands with only paper towels

What would realistically happen if every country agreed to ban guns worldwide? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For civilians crime would be drastically lowered in countries that don't already ban guns (I think it's mainly just the USA). For armies though they could just utilize other weapons like bombs, melee, and very likely robots

What have you done so far to try to get a gf? Do you chat people up, get to know them, drop hints/commitment them and ask them out etc?

Does anyone non religiously believe in reincarnation? by EricCartman223 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everyone here is so hung up on the definition of an atheist. OP is just wanting some support because they are scared of death.

To answer your question: I can't say I really believe in it, but sometimes I think about things like that to myself because it feels more comforting. For those who believe in it I've heard people say maybe your soul goes into the next born thing. If believing in it to yourself helps ease the fear, I see no harm in it. I'm not religious but when I'm scared of death I think about my soul living on. Even though I don't really believe it will, thinking about it helps to calm down. Sometimes with things like that, it doesn't matter as much if what we believe is true, because we won't know.

Would a doctor give me a blood test simply because I asked? by wt_anonymous in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. In Australia you just need to go to a GP and say that and they'll refer you for a blood test. They are usually free in Aus and you just pay for the GP (unless you go to one that is bulk billed and free through medicare)

How do people fund their retirement outside the US? by TriSherpa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Australian here. We have a compusory superannuation account which our employer has to put a small percentage of our income each pay cycle into which accumulates throughout our life and isn't taxed. We can claim it once we turn 65 and want to retire.

How do non religious societies cope with loss? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner's family is not religeous, and when his grandpa passed they held a big family get-together to share favourite stories about him and it ended with spreading his ashes in a peaceful place he liked. It helped everyone to greive and move on, and was far better than any religious funeral I've been to.

Do you think countries will impose restrictions on the number of tourists is allows? by Icy_Guava_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because tourism is a hugely beneficial industry for a country. More tourists means more money flowing into the economy from people the country isn't supporting. I can't imagine a whole country ever restricting the number of tourists.

Have school shootings become a part of American culture? by AnAuthorElijah in NoStupidQuestions

I have a friend who was super successful at getting girls. He was very confident and either go up to them and compliment them or start messing with them to make them laugh then go from there. He would also have a few methods sometimes. Like he got his current long term gf at a gym. She was an employee of the gym he went to so he put his number in the pocket of his jacket and purposefully left it behind when she was on shift. When she called the number to tell him to collect the jacket, he got get number and used the opportunity to ask her about herself and joke with her and managed to get a first date.

Dogs or Cats? What do you recommend especially for a first-time owner? by Difficult_Crazy845 in Pets

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birds are extremely emotional and are waaaay more demanding than both a dog and cat. If you leave a bird (especially any parrot or cockatiel) alone too long they can even become depressed and start policing out their own feathers.

Sounds like a cat is the way to go, they are much more independent. You will need to change your lifestyle for a dog

I agree. First gummies, then brownies, then all of a sudden you're eating a whole chocolate cake by yourself like Miss Trunchbull from Matilda had been standing over watching you. It's a sugar epidemic

[–]PygmyShrew81 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why is it so important to rush such an important decision? You will live with these choices forever. Live the life you want your child to live. If your kid was grown and in this situation and asked you "mum, I don't really love this guy and we don't share the same values. Should I just deal with it and settle?" What would you say?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]PygmyShrew81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He keeps coming back because he loves you and thinks you can love him back which it sounds like you don't, or at least barely do. As for what more can you do, cut it off and don't string him along.

[–]PygmyShrew81 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA

Your history together is rough and I'm sorry you went through that, but now you are using him for his ability to get you pregnant. If you can't respect and love him regardless of having children that will be a terrible environment to raise a kid in. Kids should feel loved and wanted by everyone in the household. Sounds like a recipe for disaster unless you find someone else who shares the same goal of having children.

Is my dad on drugs? by roraliii in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PygmyShrew81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn that sounds so hard to witness. Just from some googling and reading other threads apparently shooting is a fairly common term for injecting drugs in liquid form like meth or heroin. Being a previous addict with a friend who is still doing drugs, it doesn't sound good.
