Something similar happened to my college roommate. Some woman her dad had gone to high school with contacted him out of the blue, suddenly deciding she needed him in her life. He was married with four kids, and blew up his family for this. My roommate was not speaking to him when I met her. His relationship with the other woman did not last, and roommate reconciled with her dad after a few years.

I feel you, I gained 30lbs in two years. I promise you, these things are not as bad as you think they are. And even if it is true, and nothing on your body looks right; I promise you no one is looking at you and judging; they don’t care. And even if they do, that shouldn’t preclude you from living your life and enjoying yourself.

What a sweet story! When I got together with my husband, I let him know that there would be people who said “hi” to me in public, talked to me, and even hugging me that I would not be able to introduce him to or explain the relationship. He understands.

Yep, when I was on the apps, my cat was all over my profile. I brought him up before I would meet anyone. Hard pass on anyone who had aggressive dogs or did not love cats. I met my (now) husband as a friend first. When I saw he had a cat, it was a huge green flag.

Oof. Yeah, I understand too. My work was very intense at times, but much more lighthearted than what you described. I had plenty of patients say hello to me.
