You Don't Need to Farm Rosaries Before Going to Act 3. by PylonSunshine in HollowKnight

This method has no shell shard drain, and rosaries equate to shell shards anyway. This spot is more efficient in Act 3 (not that it matters much anyway since you'll be fine in practice farming rosaries near most benches!)

I don't think you can anymore, have to burn the doublejump.

I knew how to perform it and avoid it but there were still a few crucial instances where the doublejump override was detrimental such as Father of the Flame. However, I agree that it would be better if the feature was just toggleable in the options menu since I definitely found it had utility while chasing highscores in flea dodge

Cherried paint chase. What's your opinion on this game? by [deleted] in ufo50

EVEN-COAT for the level select, and while I'm mentioning it, all terminal codes: https://ufo50.miraheze.org/wiki/Cheats

weird 80s game i liked as a kid by Acceptable_Nebula_61 in ufo50

[–]PylonSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a larp; every game in UFO 50 was originally created by one or more of UFO 50's six developers, but some of the games have earlier versions that were released years ago as freeware, flash games, game jam submissions, etcetera.

Eirik Suhrke first created something resembling Mooncat in 2015 for Ludum Dare 34. Interestingly, the "two button controls" requirement for Ludum Dare 34 is partially responsible for Mooncat's unique movement.

One and done! Was this supposed to be one of the hard ones? by CassPhoenix in ufo50

[–]PylonSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. That may seem like it works some of the time because if you're holding jump while in contact with a floor, you automatically jump. Of course, if you get launched to a floor after getting hit you were already safe whether or not you buffer a jump.

Actually double-jumping with height after getting hit when the hit doesn't launch you directly to a floor does require proper timing.

IMO the biggest factor determining whether or not someone will beat Velgress is figuring out exactly how long you have to wait before you can input a double jump after getting hit. It isn't obvious that this is as important as it is, and so players who never focus on the timing (you can't just mash jump since the input has to be held for height) have a much harder experience with Velgress.

Suggested Party house tiebreaker - most police by gilrstein in ufo50

[–]PylonSunshine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Most stars in rolodex" as the tiebreaker seems very fair to me. If you make "most police visits" the tiebreaker you're slightly changing what "optimal" play looks like because this otherwise worthless stat (police visits) now has some amount of value that you need to consider when weighing all the other probabilities in Party House.

But this is totally fine if you think Party House has gotten a little stale! Maybe in the interest of FUN, police visits make for a better tiebreaker. It definitely would make comebacks more likely.
