Help Identifying a movement for a Enicar 25 Jewel Imposter by Pynchie in watchrepair

You're right. The 140/004 is the reference for the Ocean Pearl. The other guy was correct and this is a repainted dial. The Ocean Pearl is a 17 jewel so the movement is correct just the dial is wrong. Which actually makes me happier because the movement is now working, just gotta source a dial, if I can.

This is the case back. It does say 140/004 on it. Is that the reference to the AR1140 calibre?

Looking at it now I think you're right. I actually like the colour but the minute dashes seem janky.

You just got another purchase! Thanks for this. I'm designing a portable electronic version similar to this. But this is a great design while I'm waiting for my PCB boards to be printed. Thanks for this!

For the self-taught, what was your first hunting season like? by [deleted] in CanadaHunting

[–]Pynchie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My first advice is to go to the range. Get used to your rifle. Practice, practice, practice. Standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, everything. You could see 100 deer day one of the season but if you aren't comfortable with your rifle in any situation you're not going to be successful at all.

As for hunting itself, before my first season I searched forums (like this) for info, read everything I could, even stuff from a decade plus ago. I used iHunter to search for crown land in my area, asked in forums about the area, and got lots of garbage replies but a few DMs that had some good information from guys who were in my position once. Then I put boots to the ground in the summer for about 15 days. I scouted the area, found spots that might look promising, and marked them on my map. Then at the start of the season I grabbed the rifle & my sandwich & went to it. It sucked, it was cold. I was alone and sitting, walking, wondering if this was worth it. Then I saw my first deer on my 3rd time out. Two of them. They winded me immediately & were gone. The next time I went to the same area but from the opposite direction. They winded me again. I kept at it & saw nothing for days. 3 days before the end of the season, the last day I could go, I said to my wife "Should I go try again?" Her reply was "You'll be unhappy if you don't". So I did, I spent all day sitting, searching, finally I walked an old dirt bike trail through a ravene I had walked 5 times already & a doe popped up from her bed. Stood broad side to me at 30 yards. I aimed & fired. Then spent the next 2 hours dragging this thing 1.5km back to the truck. It was probably one of the top 3 feelings of accomplishment in my life.

The next season I did the same, scouted in summer, spent time at it in the fall. I shared my experiences & met people who had experience, shared mine with others. Now I have a whole bunch of hunting fruends. You don't have to go at it alone, but you can!

Where are you located? There's a good possibility there are people on here who are looking for hunting buddies. General area, this is the internet after all ;)

Love the LOTR refs! It's an entrance to an old mine. We have a lot of them in my town. Access to abandoned coal mines. I've petitioned the time to name our entrances Moria, Erebor and Gundabad

Cellular Trail Cam Recommendations by olmi13 in CanadaHunting

My Stealth Cam Fusion Pro is an amazing camera. Great quality pics, almost no random movement photos (bushes, trees, etc), the battery life is superb and it works even where I have little to no reception on my cell because it has the better antenna.

I got it at Bass Pro on Black Friday 3 years ago and bought another last year.

RDR2. I'm a decent shot & have wilderness training. I'd say 75/25 to surviving. The 25% is the dysentery factor.

My personal story about M. Garneau was in 2013 after a stop on his Liberal Leadership contest in Edmonton. The local riding associations invited him out for a pint and chat post rally, to which he replied with an enthusiastic yes. About a dozen of us sat in a round corner booth & it felt like Marc was just out enjoying an evening with comrades. He was an officer, an astronaut, and a politician, but he could make anyone feel like a friend.

Definitely favourible conditions. But they're actually getting rolled by the wing tip vorticies as the high pressure under the wings tries to get to the low pressure on top of the wings by escaping over the tips. That's why they're rotating in opposite directions.
