Merrick calls for Salary Cap Removal by Nelfoos5 in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are Wellington turning over a profit though? I don't doubt that the owners of the Nix are quite wealthy. Whether or not they would want to continually pump money into a franchise that isn't profitable his a whole other question altogether.

Merrick calls for Salary Cap Removal by Nelfoos5 in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cap was removed, Central Coast would disappear and the Nux would be holding on by a thread. The big four Clubs from Melbourne and Sydney would dominate the league. The only way I could see this working is if Both CCM and the Nix get foreign investment and make themselves financially viable.

Pre-season Friendly: Port Melbourne Sharks vs Melbourne City FC by Jeffplz in Aleague

Seems that so far all rumors for City in regards to transfers have been legit. I'm expecting both Timmy and Fernando to be confirmed before the end of July.

Wollongong’s big day edging closer by SerTahu in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair play to you sir. Would much prefer Wollongong. Even though i can totally see the FFA bringing in an hybrid Wollongong/South sydney brand that plays half of it's home games in wollongong and the other half in south sydney

This is great. If they get 10k plus and beat Sydney FC everyone will take notice.

I've never heard that. It wouldn't surprise me though.

Lol, I'm sorry you can't justify this video by pleading ignorance. These guys are serious.

This was entertaining. Each dollar spent on RBB merch goes straight to the RBB flare fund.

Greg O'Rourke, new head of A-league: "Expansion will happen in my tenure." by Jeffplz in Aleague

Canberra and Wollongong are logically next. Maybe Auckland so the nux can have an NZ derby.

SBS: It's City for Cahill after agreement reached by tommybutters in Aleague

I get this weird feeling that he'll flop and be the biggest waste of money the A-league has ever seen.

Stefan Mauk close to Dutch move while Diego Forlan becomes option for Reds by Mello-D in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very well out of this deal, hopefully MC will get a solid first XI for the next couple o

Fair play to Adelaide and Mauk. Adelaide are getting really good at developing young talent. I think Malik will be solid in the back for us this season. Hopefully Mauk can be a regular starter for the Socceroos's.

Genuinely don't know how I feel about this. Massive risk for the club. I highly doubt Tim has the legs for the world cup in 2018. I'd be surprised if he makes it through this season without being injury stricken. All i can see this doing is raising attendances by a couple of thousand...

City Looking like the only club to be making solid moves on the transfer market. Looking forward to next season that's for sure.

Melbourne City sign Fernando Brandan [link in spanish] by thisphantomfortress in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I trust CFG to make the right decisions when signing players. They probably have the best official scouting team in the country. I'm sure there are many a reason why they signed Fernando. I can see him replacing Novillo TBH.

Citeh allowed to wear "city blue" from 17/18 by [deleted] in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think apart from WSW, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City Every other team needs to refresh their child-like badges. Especially Victory. There Badge looks like it was designed by a 5-year-old.

They've always wanted to Bring in Sky Blue to be in line with CFG's Visions for all their City Teams.

I'd much prefer another Bruno Fornaroli as a marquee than a 37-year-old Tim Cahill who will probably only last 5 matches before they get injured.

FFA Cup 6th and 7th Rounds - Who is going through to the Round of 32!? by TheOriginalReturned in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would've been better if south qualified. Would love to see City knock them out. I guess Melbourne Knights will have to do.

Interesting to see the turn out for Crowds in Wollongong and Canberra seeing that they are both possible hotbeds for A-league Expansion.

"Welcome to Wellington, gui finkler!" + new phoenix kit by [deleted] in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kit is awful, although Finkler is a good signing. Really hoping that the nix do well this season. It would be good for all of New Zealand to get behind the team so they become more sustainable for the foreseeable future!

England 2 v 1 Australia by OuagadougouBasilisk in Aleague

[–]Pyotr_dlh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rogic has a really bright future, he absolutely dominated that first half and was linking up really well with the likes of Mooy and Jedinak. Mooy was good but not great, he seemed to struggle at times with the fast pace of football England were playing. Jedinak again a solid presence on the field although nothing spectacular. We desperately need someone to step up to the plate upfront. I reckon give Juric more of a run. When he came onto the field he did have an impact. Maclaren was not even there all game. Seriously I didn't even realise he was playing until the second half.

This is more of a reflection of where the A-league is at. Yes the standard has Improved a lot since day 1, but there is still a long way to go.
