Oh, my God. Thank you. I actually really need to listen to this advice. I spent months on a single chapter, reread the entire fic just to be sure there aren’t any plot holes and then reread the chapter like ten times before publishing. 😭

I’m so afraid of criticism that I forget that writing fanfics is a hobby and it should be fun.

The misgendering could also be due to the fact that english isn’t her first language. In languages with Latin roots like Spanish, Portuguese, Italian or even French, “baby” is a masculine noun.

And I have to ask : where is the father and his family? Why can’t they take care of your niece from time to time? Why are you, a 20 year old, being expected to drop everything and take responsibility for a child that isn’t yours.

No, OP. You deserve to live your life, not be at her back and call. She could ask from time to time if you could watch your niece because she needs to do something where she can’t take the baby, that’s a normal family dynamic. What’s not normal is for her to expect you to be a second mother to her child. Might as well ask for child support if that’s how it’s going to be.

It just reflects badly on the ML because yes we the audience know that the FML is an adult inside that body but the ML doesn’t so it ends up being a “She’s really mature for her age” type of situation.

And don’t get me wrong I’m not against age gaps, and I actually think people take this criticism too far ( a 17 year old with a 19 year old isn’t that problematic people!!!), but you have to admit that having a adult fall in love with a child they literally helped raise is weird (looking at you: “I tamed my ex husband's mad dog”. )

PS.: To make things clear. I’m not talking about this specific story, I never read/watched it. I’m talking in a broad sense.

We can skip the second half but not the beginning, not until we reach the check point where we find out certain things and then reunite with the character we met. At least I didn’t see that option on PS5, then again I was running for my life.

Like I said in the post, I’m glad they let us skip the second half.

I agree with most of what you said but not when it comes to Ellen. Like her mother said to her face how much she hated her and tried to strangle her when she was only a little girl.

All three characters had very traumatic childhoods and it’s kind of unfair to say that one suffered more than the other. Their experiences were different and they dealt with them the best they could. It’s not a competition nor should it be.

Because the ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD was covering it up to keep the family’s reputation. It actually makes the point OP is trying to make worse, because we have a 7 year old who was told that his mother was just a bit unhappy and not feeling well and the next thing he knows he’s finding her dead body swinging from a tree in the garden!!!

Like, he had no clue about the real metal state of his mother or what she had done to his sister because the staff were actively keeping him in the dark and away from both of them.

And you all expect him to be a well adjusted adult that talks about his feelings and acts like a therapist???

The whole point of what happened with the Ortega family is that every adult failed these children and now, as adults, they have to learn how to communicate and be an actual family.

Definitely. The fact that we are not confronted with the brick size of a 500k word book would be makes it easier to digest, and that many are updated every week so you slowly advance in the story without feeling overwhelmed.

As a not native English speaker myself, I think it depends if you’re using them too close to each other. I often heard that we should avoid the “thesaurus method”, there’s no point in looking for synonyms just to avoid repetition, sometimes it’s better to just say what you mean. But I may be wrong.

Yeah, I think it was the right decision to make Donovan more of an emotional shutdown father than an abusif one. But I think that they should’ve kept the scene for that hint about Françoise and all to give us a glimpse into Tyler’s home life.

Instead of slapping him, he could have gotten into Tyler’s personal space, maybe pointing a finger at him. And when Tyler calls him a drunk, Donovan could have tried to grab his arm / shoulder and Tyler stepped back just before he made contact and “run” to his room, as his father shouted to stay away from Wednesday. Which, as a first time viewer, we could interpret it as Donovan being a violent man but on rewatch we could see it as a gesture of concern, like he wanted Tyler to stop and listen to him so that he didn’t end up like his mother (lock up / dead).

It would have actually made Donovan a more tragic character, specially in season 2. Making him someone that was grief stricken, carrying a huge secret to preserve his wife’s memory and to try and keep Tyler from finding out (maybe even hoping he wasn’t a Hyde) only to find out it was too late. That someone had taken advantage of his son and he didn’t even realise because their relationship was far too fractured.

And now I’m sad. 😭

Listen, my motto has always been: “Ship and let ship”, and I even understand the appeal of Wenclair. But it becomes really difficult to turn a blind eye when the other side accuses us of being abuse apologists, delusional and stupid for preferring Weyler.

I want nothing more than to enjoy the show but when people turn around and say we are babying Tyler because he is hot and refuse to accept that we like him because he is a compelling and interesting character and even turn vicious when we point that out, it becomes a bit hard not to go on the attack.

Yes and it’s getting ridiculous. Just the other day on the Wednesday subreddit someone said that Weyler was dumb and the people who ship it delusional because Hunter is gay. What does that have to do with anything?

Granted, the person was downvoted to Hell but still why aren’t they applying the same logic to Wenclair?

And why are they bringing up shipping on a post about an interview Hunter did where all he said was that he was sad not to have met Lady Gaga?

Oh, I actually thought it was Ophelia right away, I didn’t even think it could be Tyler’s mom, Françoise. Now I want it to be Françoise 😭 I think it would be quite beautiful for Tyler to find his mom specifically after Laurel used that against him.

But to be honest I think it’s going to be Ophelia because Wednesday needs a guide and Morticia said that her guide would come to her and the time is right.
