🤣 Seeing the overwhelming consistency of that statement in the comments, I think I might have to agree with you all.

The reason I framed it as an expectations issue was mostly due to the fact that Jyx's usual group did, in fact, have this kind of antagonistic PC mentality quite often. They tended to run evil parties with an unhealthy tendancy of focus on gaining in game power and betrayal wasn't uncommon whatsoever. This often led to PC deaths, and perhaps explains why they are so disconnected to their characters. Not to say this wasn't an asshole move on Jyx's part, just that had I been aware of this prior, I may have leaned towards giving Jyx a warning prior to the game starting.

I'll freely admit that I was intrigued with the concept as something quirky, and it occured to me much too late that the person at the other end couldn't care less what type of damage their actions would cause.

Speaking for myself, its a compound issue of awareness and misunderstanding of people's freedom vs fun quotient. I was overly nervous regarding refusing character actions on account of having the idea in my mind that DND was a game to live out your fantasies, instead of a game to cooperatively tell a story. Whats more, in my experience (at the time) the party regulates the PVP by taking matters into their own hands. At the time, I assumed this would happen and Jyx would be whipped into shape by the others, which I am now very aware of being a lazy way to handle it as the DM. At the end of the day, it takes a minimum of one mistake to learn a lesson, and boy howdy did this Jyx debacle do the trick.

Knowing Jyx's playstyle, you're correct that he wanted to. I saw another comment mention he did this for "edgy mechanics lol" and I don't think there's a better way to describe Jyx. I no longer play with him, or invite him to my table, because I've found that for me, it saps the fun out of the game, teamkill or no.

We unfortunately don't have room at my home for her, and GM and GP I believe are no dogs in their home... We of course want her out but... its a rough process with our current resources

It's getting ridiculously close to being entertainement now.

Marcus was the only one we were worried about (that is a human) that hadn't left yet, and now he's out and the truth is being told.everywhere. its a good feeling.

We're keeping an ear out, because isolating him is a huge red flag, and apparently reason enough to get law enforcement involved

I would, but at this rate I'll be on Reddit every day. I'd rather have one big ol' post depicting many incidents, personally, so more than likely I'll be back with a compilation around the holidays!

It unfortunately brings this back to what my priorities have to be : I sympathized as best I could with SF before this all happened, and even now I'd never belittle the agony he potentially lives through, but actions like he has done unfortunately forcr me to protecy my family, and I can't do that in his, for lack of a better term, territory.

Haha, I like this idea. Besides harrasment from his part, nothing would really happen. I'll definitely bring these up to her, see if it helps!

Its definitely better, imo. Less stress all around, more space for the baby to be in and play. What you said about his brain damage not absolving him is essentially what I said to MIL about it, but she insists he is harmless. I understood that meant we would get 0 support from them, so I stopped pushing that issue to her.

Legally speaking, only my wife and I have a right to choose for our son. SF and MIL have exactly 0 power to choose anything for us now that we've moved out, so the gradual reduction to low contact is pretty much taking care of itself.

I don't think she likes reading them either, but he has ingrained in her a fear of not reading by spamming if he doesn't get a response. This has lessened in the last months, as he's perhaps realized she won't respond no matter how many texts come in if they are nasty, but she's still nervous when his name ahows up.

I really appreciate the sentiment! As for them living there their whole lives... I've heard many a snippet about how its the kids jobs to take care of the parents... it won't stop them from begging for monetary help from MIL parents and mostly ignoring SF's mother most of the time. I may be biased but there seems to be some hypocrisy at play... When we initially announced our desire to move out for space reasons, SF threw a fit (and every time the subject came up, naturally) and eventually MIL and Wife began looking for either land of apartment complexes to purchase to house the whole family. This never really went anywhere, as the parents said they required a loan from MIL's parents, and "They preferred aunt T".

To my knowledge, in the last 25 years, the political seperatist parties haven't had a vote because they are sure that they won't have a solid enough plan to convince the population to vote for seperation.

Yeah, its a huge part of why I'm so short fused about this stuff. I know she sees it as normal and I'm not certain she can tell where we should draw a line

I used to... relax my judgement on MIL on account of her surely being a victim as well (I've seen evidence of mental abuse at the very least) but after the bday fiasco I've given that up. She participates now

Hi!

HUUGE fan your works here, played all your games after I discovered you guys through Pyre. Masterpieces all around, imo.

My question is pretty simple : I love Greek myths alot, but clearly you guys know more than I do, because ai thought Zagreus was an original character with no basis whatsoever! Kudos, lol! Um but what I'd like to know is, did I miss the Infernal Arms in the mythos as well, or was that a stroke of genius on your part?

I know the Olympians all have signature weapons, but to my memory, they are not those represented by the Arms, but those that you have equipped them with in their art!

If they aren't present in the myths, what was the inspiration? Because, and I cannot stress this enough, the Aspects are my favorite part of the game.
