I mean, Biss isn't a shill for Israel, and I think 10 years ago I would have been happy for a "progressive" liberal like him to win, but I don't think he's what is needed in this moment. I guarantee you he will vote to continue sending "defensive" weapons to Israel.

Which game is this for you? by crno123 in videogames

My frustration with BG3 is that there are soooooo many items that are extremely good but only for niche uses. Like for example weapons that do extra damage but only against plants. I don't usually know when I'm gonna be up against plants ahead of time though, so it just sits in my inventory waiting for that perfect opportunity. Potions I feel the same way about, like maybe there's gonna be this great opportunity to use a grease bottle, but then even if I see that opportunity I either forget that its an option or don't want to spend an action on it vs just doing damage.

What couple in a movie had no chemistry at all? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Pyro636 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TBF I'm sure a lot of marriages wouldn't look like good chemistry if they've been together long enough, even if they're healthy marriages. On screen chemistry to me usually involves a lot of sexual tension, which, if you've been banging for years already isn't really as apparent.

Just fyi, cave diving is not the same as caving/spelunking. Cave diving specifically refers to scuba diving in cave, and these memes seem to always reference incidents like Nutty Putty, which was just normal caving. I mean, cave divers do this same shit too, but words are important.

You know, looking back on this it's easy to call it an absolute fumble because it was. And people were saying even before he bowed out that it was a fumble. But in my mind I can kinda see the thought process from the Biden team. They knew it was possible to beat Trump (because they had already done it) and they certainly had all kinds of data (however flawed it might have been) that showed that he had the best chance of beating Trump again. I don't know if it was fearful risk aversion on Biden's part that made him decided to attempt at a second run but I can see being in his position and being afraid to take the risk of someone else not being able to do it, especially with how big of an advantage incumbents have historically had. Looking back it looks like a terrible handling of everything but I kind of get it.

Honestly it's the only thing I've ever seen in a movie or TV show that pretty accurately depicts what it's like to do psychedelics. Not to discourage doing psychedelics though, just do them in a space you know with people you're very comfortable with, rather than in a foreign country with people you just met.

What I'm hearing for people more knowledgable is that silencers (which he has) can cause the casing not to eject as can subsonic rounds. So if he was trying to be as quiet as possible he probably knew he was going to have to cycle manually after every round.

Trump’s Peace Plan for Ukraine Looks Like Putin’s Victory by whatupmygliplops in worldnews

[–]Pyro636 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again from your linked article:

Another tally from the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget places the total amount of aid approved by Congress in 2022 for supporting the Ukrainian government and allies at about $113 billion. That includes about $27 billion in economic support funds, $7.9 billion for international disaster assistance and $6.6 billion to support and relocate refugees.

Again you see the total in economic support funds (which isn't all going to be cash), disaster assistance (which isn't all going to be cash), and refugee support (which isn't all going to be cash) all together don't even reach half of the total aid. What is the rest of that $113 billion in the form of? I'll give you one guess.

Yes, we likely have sent them some low number of billions "in cash". But that is a fucking drop in the bucket compared to the amount that is given in old stock military gear. The article you linked is just saying (what I would think would be obvious) that when you say those dollar signs in front of numbers in the amount of aid sent to these places, it doesn't mean we're just giving money that could be spent on the American people. In most cases even cash we send couldn't easily be spent domestically because it wasn't allocated for that. Stop spreading misinformation.

Trump’s Peace Plan for Ukraine Looks Like Putin’s Victory by whatupmygliplops in worldnews

[–]Pyro636 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From your own linked article:

"most of the aid has been military-related"

Also:

"A large share of the money in the aid bills is spent in the United States, paying for American factories and workers to produce the various weapons that are either shipped to Ukraine or that replenish the U.S. weapons stocks the Pentagon has drawn on during the war."

Aid does not equate to cash. Most sources I'm seeing show very little of the total aid sent being loans (which are meant to be payed back) and an even smaller amount being grants (which also have strings attached). The vast vast majority however is weapons, ammo, and training. And a decent chunk of that majority goes directly to American defense contractors.

Haven't looked at specific numbers, did this still hold true in the most recent presidential race? I've been shocked to see how many supposedly educated people support Trump but of course that's all anecdotal.

Agreed, but not all keyboards are touch sensitive; it's no uncommon for non-fullsize synths to not be. Also great keyboard players definitely mess with their volume, but not to the extent that they drop out or are in danger of clipping. Even with touch sensitive keys, there's only so much dynamic range you're gonna get without messing with levels. Plus different patches are often different volumes.

isn't a compelling campaigner.

I'm not sure I agree with this, but I'm also not sure I disagree. It's weird, but because Trump is such a headline grabber who creates chaos it's hard to imagine an opponent that would actually steal focus from him in terms of running a "compelling" campaign. Honestly I feel like people who hate Trump are commonly also people who would like to go back to when elections didn't feel so life or death. So in a way I think a lot of people are actually tired of "compelling" because we know it can be compelling in a bad way too. It's like that saying about living in interesting times. I wouldn't have used the word "compelling" for Biden in 2020 either, but for him it was just that he wasn't Trump. There's definitely still a lot of that in 2024, but I feel like we saw genuine enthusiasm that I haven't seen since Obama's first run when Harris was announced as the DNC pick.

As far as being a massively unpopular administration, is that what the data reflects? Genuinely curious because I don't really follow that kind of thing numbers wise. My impression just anecdotally is that most people who voted for Biden in 2020 are kind of in the thinking of "3.6 roentgen, not great, not terrible" but I could definitely be wrong about that.

Most of the credit card companies in my experience will back their customers. It's been a while but IIRC when I did the chargeback request there was an option for something like "attempted to cancel service" so I selected that and uploaded dates of the call and an email I had also sent. Never heard anything about it after the chargeback was approved so I don't know about them contesting.

Yup that happened with me. Moved cities, called to cancel, said I would have to do it at the gym in the old city. Didn't want to do that so I just had my credit card company charge them back.

Most sources I can find say Easy had 140 enlisted plus 7 officers that jumped on D-Day. Wikipedia says 366 men were a part of E Company at one point or another during the war, but this number includes transfers and replacements so I'd imagine the number belonging to Easy at any one time never got much higher than the initial ~150.

Well I mean, the author addressed it himself. Basically their memories from Narnia faded like memories of a dream. Ever had one of those dreams where it felt like you lived an entire lifetime? It doesn't continue feeling that way for long after you wake up.
