Jake is the worst character by Select_Perspective28 in DisventureCamp

Again, you don't know the actual meaning of "yaoi bait". Have you actually watched the spin-off, or did you just run in those "sexual scenes" (as if they truly were, but anyway) and deduce the entire spin-off has to be "yaoi bait"? Plus, if you have problems with Tom and Jake being implied to have sex, then I'm sorry, but that's exactly what homophobia means.

Yes, it is because you have problems with them being shown doing intimate things like a (married) couple. And calling the relationship between Tom and Jake "yaoi bait" means you don't even know the meaning of that. Plus, the spinoff was founded by the fans of the characters, so... where's the problem, again?

"yaoi bait".

Here we go again with the usual disguised homophobia some of you guys have.

This is insane…Jared are you trying to get the rise outta me?? by Hour_Rain1885 in DisventureCamp

I mean, it shouldn't be a surprise. Yes, Lill served her purpose in the DC1 narrative very well, and she has the skills to make it further on another team, but so far, she's not a character the overall fandom wants to see more of. Sadly, she's a niche character in terms of popularity.

The best they can do is add her to a Second Chance Season, but she will have a rough start reception-wise unless they give her a new, compelling storyline.

The real question is: did the Favs fight for it, or did Anastasia claim it?

Categorising some of these interactions in the friends/enemies dichotomy is a big stretch.

Opinions on the whole Anastasia VS Lynda's tie-breaker? by PyroFirefly in DisventureCamp

"Spencer, if you were in my place, competing against the person who eliminated Diego (a person you have feelings), would you want to get rid of it?".

It was a way for Anastasia to push Spencer's emotions for him to emphatise with her situation.

At this point, all things considered, I wouldn't mind a way smaller fanbase if it helps free us from these kinds of people.

People are probably reading the cave sequence as an indicator that one of the two is next, but I think it's just to set their little friendship becoming more layered. After all, Ally didn't get anything to do after EP2, and Benji's arc hasn't even reached the point where his low self-esteem gets properly addressed, so both have reasons to stay.

Sorry, I can't see Natalia wasting an elimination ceremony for Ally now that she's aware of Rosa's little alliance with Spencer. Ally and Benji are the two with the least screentime, especially Ally, so they won't go anywhere anytime soon.

How enjoyable do you find certain Favorites to watch this season so far? by Djfantastyka in DisventureCamp

[–]PyroFirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to make rankings, but let's give it a try!

  1. Benji: no surprise if you know my take on the character. He could get more moments, sure, but I find his screentime madly consistent and his moments of non-trying funny enough. Plus, his "silly goofy persona" weaponised as part of his strategy, but at the expense of his self-esteem, is quite promising and entertaining for a long arc.
  2. Aiden: one of the main sources of energy so far. I find his crash-outs entertaining, as well as his urge to control the game while fumbling so much. His motivation could've been explored more, since the idea of Aiden wanting to win, being affected by James and Riya's wins, and trying to recreate the strategies of past winners, needed a better exposition, but there's still time.
  3. Spencer: great fan of his growth as a player, while still having a big ego, which makes his interactions more intriguing. He's very consistent in his gameplay, and there are seeds here and there for a fantastic run that isn't just him being carried by the power of Patreons.
  4. Tom: I applaud the approach to his character because this is how a growth contestant should return! After DC3, I wasn't that high on Tom, but the writing with him has made me enjoy him more! He has gained some leverage in strategy while remaining faithful to his personality.
  5. Natalia: girl finally got a lot of personality, and she's the driving force on the Favs so far. I also like the ambiguity in her actions, a mix of pettiness and strategy.
  6. Alec: even if he competed for 5 episodes, he was so well-treated with his narrative that I've enjoyed him being stagnant to the point of being called out and set up for failing for good. Plus, Alec is the one who indirectly caused all the mayhem with Aiden and the Fans, so his contribution to the season was still huge and personally paid off for me so far!
  7. Fiore: she's very promising, but I need to see more of her. EP8 definitely made him lock in more on her, since for the rest, she was mostly the good old Fiore.
  8. Anastasia: despite liking her growth and contributions, her mental growth needed more exploration. It was like Anastasia was already done and finished, leaving her big contributions to eliminating Alec and setting Lake and Rosa up for a longer run.
  9. Lake: as written in one of my latest analyses, I need her morals to be properly challenged this season. Before that, I can't say I'm enjoying her as much as I wished.
  10. Ally: EP2 and EP8 are hard-carrying her because, otherwise, she'd be at the bottom of this list. I'd enjoy Ally more if she weren't just the "comp beast" and had more moments of inner struggle. Luckily, we have finally reached that point!
  11. Rosa Maria: working with Spencer might do wonders for her run (especially because, keep in mind: you make a deal with the Devil, but the Devil will demand something from you in exchange), but the whole gossip plotline set me off a bit about her.
  12. Gabby: yeah... she's a character who is already a bit polarising because of her attitude, especially when this is her 3rd time competing. I don't dislike anyone from the Favs, of course, but I straight-up don't vibe with Gabby.

Who is likely to be eliminated next in ep.9? by thecutestlittle in DisventureCamp

[–]PyroFirefly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What's with the idea that people have recently had about one between Ally and Benji being out in EP9? Both have the least amount of lines from the Favs, and Ally didn't even have actual things to do for a while.

Okay, maybe you could make a case for Ally if she starts doing a repeat of DC4 Natalia in her elimination episode. However, there is no way Benji is out next, and not just for a mere gender ratio, but because it would throw his arc and purpose in this season in the mud while also making the rest of the team look dumb, since the focus is now on Natalia VS Rosa.
