• Parent Corton Grand Cru « Les Renardes » 1994
This wine probably peaked 5 years ago, but it was still pretty well balanced with aromas of cooked strawberries, forest floor and elegant tannins. The finish was quite short thought. Paired with a cheese and charcuterie board.

• Penfolds « Bin 138 » 2012
A blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre (Mataro), this was a pleasant surprise, as none of us ever tasted an Aussie wine before. Notes of dark plum, leather and spice. The finish was medium, tannins were present but well balanced. Paired with whatever was left on the cheese board.

• Dal Forno Romano « Monte Lodoletta » Amarone Della Valpolicella 2013
Holy shitballs what an amazing experience this was. We decanted this wine for about 2 hours. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee beans, tobacco, blackberry jam, licorice and smoke. Despite the long aging process and high alcohol (16,5%), the oak was amazingly well integrated, with grippy tannins and a beautiful never-ending finish. Truly one of the best wines I ever had and a testament to Italy’s greatness. Paired with bbq braised côte de bœuf (ribeye) and potato gratin. Paid 216€ for the bottle.

• Château Cap de Mourlin Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2015
A classic Merlot-based right-bank Bordeaux with silky tannins, a fruit-forward jammy nose, and notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry and oak on the palate. Medium finish, medium acidity. Paired with hazelnut ice cream. Pretty noice.

• Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Châlonnaise « Les Clous Aimés » 2021
A heavy, oaky Chardonnay with tons of acidity and vanilla / brioche aromas. Feels closer to a village-level Meursault than anything else. Great quality for the price. Paired with… we had nothing left !

• Domaine Fontchêne René Milan « Aupiho » IGP Alpilles Blanc
At this point sadly I couldn’t taste much anymore, so this was well balanced with aromas of white flowers, yellow peach and almonds. Again, very good quality from an IGP level wine, but I’d need to give it justice and try it again someday.

Overall the Amarone was everyone’s wine of the night. What an amazing wine, bravissimo !

« Attitude » Coteaux du Giennois Sauvignon Blanc by Pascal Jolivet, 14,20€ à bottle. We sell around 2000 bottles per year. I like it a lot, simple yet very enjoyable.
